If the vote was today, he would have mine.   He seems genuine, as long as he keeps that up, and we keep the libs, both dems and pubs, from blocking him in the caucuses.

Is that not priceless?

Because he's not his dad, I would vote for him--even with his support for amnesty for ILLEGAL Mexicans who break our laws. We don't give that benefit to English or German invaders, but Mexicans is special people--even to the Repubs.

That was what was holding me back as well, until I heard him speak briefly on the subject.
He shares my opinion in a necessary presence where our interests are concerned, but places like Europe are in question where bases are concerned.
He emphasized we have a Constitutional obligation to a strong Military, but thinks we have no business in certain parts of the world.

But to alleviate the suspicion that he is for pulling our troops out of the global theater, here is what he said about Libya.

I totally agree our presence in Europe is outdated. There is no immediate threat for Russia to do anything stupid. The EU needs to step up and protect themselves. The outcry would come from western socialist EU members. The former Soviet controlled countries cherish their freedom and would probably be ready to protect themselves.

So far he seems to be the one.  He speaks directly to the issue and more importantly, his actions match his words.  There are a lot of people who are out there claiming to be fiscal conservatives and then do not vote or act that way.   I think the GOP arguments about the DOD is a great example.   The upcoming cuts are supposed to be catastrophic.  I would believe the GOP if they said that some overhaul is necessary and based on their examination X dollars could be cut without a decline in the military's capability.  There is no one with a few brain cells in their head that believes that every dollar going to the DOD is well spent.

Yep...
Complacence created dependence in this case, Europe has become so dependent upon us for it's protection, it in turn spent money on social programs instead of it's own Military, that made people dependent of Govt.
Had we not stayed beyond our time, maybe Europe wouldn't be in the mess it's in right now having to fight off socialist?.

Regardless, it's time to pull out and let them fin for themselves, it's not as if there is a commie super power next door, just a declawed Russia trying to look powerful.
To paraphrase Thatcher, once Europe runs out of other peoples money, socialism will collapse, what takes it place is up to Europeans.

It's too early to say yet.  We do not even know what the GOP field will look like.  However, at this time I would say NO.  Sure, he has said some good things lately.  However, he is still Ron Paul's son and that is just a little too close to the kook for me.

Would those that abstain form supporting a non RINO, please give us your best choice for candidate at this point?
I'm not trying to force an agenda here, I just like Paul over all the others, that's just MHO.
I just want to know what other options are open to us.

He will receive more scrutiny from GOp supporters and the MSM. If he passes muster the media scrutiny could turn out to be a benefit as it would remove a lot of possible dem amunition.

He took a lot of heat from the Paulites (Ron Paulites) for endorsing Romney. He's not his father. I thought his father was great as a congressman, but his son is far more presidential. He and Rubio and Paul Ryan are the only ones I think are qualified for the job.

At this time I prefer Paul over Rubio.

Neither will get the nod from the current GOP establishment though.

IMO.
