Granted her English is poor and her grasp of context is worse, it sounded to me like she was trying to say we don't need more damned laws, responsibility starts with the individual.

What did Miss Venezuela from Miss Universe 2012 say?

Reconstructing her statement as someone who is familiar with similar versions of English, that's basically what she said. That the laws that are currently outlined by the constitution are sufficient, and rather than look to government for guidance, we should abide by the philosophy of doing what's right.

I heard that there was one of these news programs doing an interview with young kids where they were talking about the Newtown CT shooting and they host asked this one young kid what he thought about guns. Without skipping a beat, the kid said, "Guns don't kill people. People kill people."

As the story was told, they immediately cut to a commercial (it was live T.V., evidently) and when they returned from the commercial break, the kid was nowhere to be seen.

I'm sure he is in a FEEMA camp somewhere being "re-educated".

That's how I understood her as well, but the media is all over this as if she was rambling incoherently.

I wouldn't doubt that seeing firsthand what a meddlesome government can do influenced her way of thinking.

Yep, kind of like the exodus taking place in Ca, where all the producers are bailing on the state.
I can only imagine the crap she will get from the politicians and the reeducation she might be faced with on return home.

Unfortunately Miss Venezuela lives in a country where the Govt determines everything an indivual does. I'm wondering if her speech had anything to do with an obluque admonisment of the repressive regime under which she lives.

That's how I took it, she was talking to Her audience, not the world so much.
I see a future in politics for this woman, assuming she isn't locked up first.

Yep, and they are already making noises about an exit tax. Their premise is that one shouldn't be able to escape their share of the debt in this state. Of course they say nothing about the fact that it was their irresponsible spending that put us in debt in the first place. They are overjoyed that they now have a majority position in Sacramento. Conservatives for the most part wanted them to show where the funding was coming from, something they despised them for.

I wonder if they will actually get it through with their super majprity?
It shows just how ignorant the lib Legislature is, on the States Constitution, asside the fact that no state would help them collect such a levy anyway.

God knows I hate the libs running ruining this beautiful state.
