Wondering if this means what I think

Here in Illinois, the state is always Democrat.

I don't see it changing any time soon.  Durbin will be re-elected.  So, nationally, we are a lost cause.

However, we have a very close governor's race.  Incumbent is Pat Quinn (D) and challenger Bruce Rauner (R).  Rauner is a multimillionaire businessman, so he gets the usual barbs.  The race is said to be too close to call at this point.

So, we have had Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Bill Clinton, soon Joe Biden, and company here campaigning for Quinn.  It's quite a show.

Wonder if it means they are WORRIED that the Republican may actually oust a terrible Democrat governor.

That would be interesting as it would mean the "machine" could not get the vote out in Chicago. For the dems to lose the governorship in IL would concern the democrat party.

I see what you mean.

It being an off year election makes a difference too.

Illinois has not been in good shape financially.  Many are disgusted with a state tax increase and the budget always being in deficit.  Jobs situation not good either.

I doubt it would affect what Illinois would do nationally though.

I have listened to some of the campaign rhetoric (when I can stand it).  It is minimum wage increase, racial, women, very predictable, same old stuff.  But, it works here, for reasons I cannot understand!

I can. It's called "Chicago."

In Michigan, it's called "Detroit."

DaisyJane

I know WHO does it, I just don't understand WHY.

We can all see what has happened under Democrats.  Detroit and Chicago have not flourished.  We can add other big cities to that.

Yet they all march out in lockstep to do it.

The news here is that the race is tied.  Enter the "big guns."

The question is, will enough brainless Obama Zombies be so disenchanted with their messiah, that they'll sit out the election and let the adults run things for a change.  I think enough will not bother to vote and allow more conservative leadership.

The takers will ALWAYS be liberal. But there are signs that they're not as motivated this election cycle.

Probably.  Also, it would be a huge embarrassment for the Dems to lose Illinois; home of B.O.himself.  It seems that the number of Republican governors are growing as well.  30 and counting...the largest numbers of governorships held by a party in over a decade.  Oh Happy Day!

Quinn is a terrible governor.  Illinois is a mess.

There is NO reason to re-elect him.  Rauner has had ads that he can't be bought.  He is a multimillionaire, which the Democrats have done their usual demonization.

Wish we could have gotten rid of Durbin.  The other candidate is just not that good.  But maybe NO ONE could unseat him.  He is 69 years old, so it may be his last term.  But, we have seen how much damage could be done in a short time.

My dad is convinced the election will be stolen for Quinn.  We will see.

Sorry for some reason I neglected to explain why I say that.

I say that because in Ohio, there is a small city to Cincinnati's immediate north which if Cincinnati had it's way would be part of Cincinnati, that has actually been called "little Chicago" for decades now in it's past history, because precisely many of the same illegal, immoral, lawless acts "big Chicago's" politicians engaged in, were also engaged in by that city's political establishment.

In fact, it was a city, which Al Capone the notorious gangster of the roaring twenties actually frequented, when things would get a little to "hot" for him in Chicago, or when he needed an alibi for certain things.

It's a city he would visit and stay in and it wasn't because of the weather, either.

It was a city he'd frequent, because he found it to be a city which was quote "the most like home" to him.

It was a city which he found had political bosses, (a fact of history now) who still to this day exist, who were as corrupt as those capone had dealings with and had on "the take" in "Big Chicago".

As of today, Oct.23, they are saying the race is "too close to call."

It was said that a large shift in suburban white women had come to Rauner, the Republican.

If the black vote doesn't turn out in large numbers, the Republican wins.  They have not moved away from Quinn for some mysterious reasons.

I just wish Democrat only voters would THINK about their vote.

Live by polls, die by polls.. Ask anyone on this forum, excluding a couple doomers, if they think the libs will come out to actually vote in Nov, and you'll discover your pessimism is based on what the left wants you to believe.

My internal poll went off when I heard about all the visitors here to campaign for the Democrat!  Made me think they were WORRIED about this election.

Just heard blacks support is 86% for the Democrat, so they are hoping those folks bother to vote.

If the Democrat wins, it makes no sense, as he has been a TERRIBLE governor.

The Michigan ballot has only two hunting-related issues on it, and nothing on the proposal to hike minimum wage to $10.10. This latter omission greatly reduces the chances of leeches surging to their trough.
