As I write this my wife is in surgery, getting a total shoulder replacement. From what the surgeon explained total shoulder is a tougher surgery than knee and hip...and the recovery is alot longer.....I have my fingers crossed that this ends her constant pain.
Ill be Mr Mom to the dog the cat and house..for quite awhile, which is fine. I did cheat though a little, I bought a Irobot Scooba to wash the floors..cuz that is something I do not want to do...Ill vacuum and dust and wash clothes... but scrubbin floors ugh....anyway
I feel better I wrote this..to be honest im a nervous wreck and wish it was me getting the surgery....my wife and I are very close shes my babydoll and I hate the thought of her suffering...oh well...nothing I can do about it :)

Hope this takes care of the problem for her.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I had my right shoulder completely replaced in 2007.

I did 12 weeks of rehab and was able to drive again after week 3.

The rehab is the worst part of the entire episode, especially the first 6 weeks.

One thing she must do after it is all said and done is continue to exercise the shoulder each and every day.

Good luck.

Thats a tough one Zip, but I'm sure she will come through it quite well.
I too will probably need this surgery in a few years, I threw too many rocks as a kid, and too much soft ball later on.

Keep us posted on her surgery.

Joint-pain's the worst. Best wishes! When she puts away the Roomba and mops the floor with YOU, then she's fully recovered, yes?  ;)

I've got two of those things, I love em, but ST prefers the old fashioned way.
I don't care, as long as I don't have to do it. :o ;D

Hey zip.I certainly hope and pray that your wife recovers and gets well before the doctors know it! ;D ;D

For now you can focus on the fact that they let her sleep through surgery.  That's a good thing!  I'm sure she'll do great.   I'm not so sure about you!   ;)   ;D

I've got one of those Shark steam things to clean my tile and wood floors.  I love it.  No more hands and knees junk that I had to do in the good old days.  Your wife might like that after she's recovered enough to start doing floors again (in about 5-10 years if she plays it right).

A quick recovery to both of you!

Best wishes for your wife's speedy recovery, Zip.  We will keep her in our prayers.

My wife had major back surgery (spinal fusion with "appliances") right around this time last year.  She rehabbed for several months, and she is doing really great now.

One piece of advice, Zip.  Take good care of her and keep a close eye on her so she doesn't try to do too much too soon.

Elfie

I hope all goes well for her... I'll say a get well fast prayer for her.

Our prayers are with both your wife and you. And I'm sure you will do a great job taking care of her. Just please make sure you do everything they tell you to do in physical therapy. It will be hell. It will hurt very badly. But doing it right will mean a huge difference in the amount of function that is preserved. No matter how much you hate it, please do the physical therapy 100%.

Thanks guys...the worst part is the waiting and now thats over...she was in surgery over 3 hrs and the Surgeon told me it was the worst shoulder he has ever seen...he said it was successful but shes going to be in a lot of pain...they told me originally 2hrs of surgery it was almost 3.5.
   Hopefully she comes home tomorrow.....

The robot thing is for me...Ill bet a donut when she heals up she wont use it....till she went in surgery yesterday she was still doing the floors on her hands and knees...I did buy her construction knee pads for that...and handed them to her with a grin and I got a sneer in return lol...

A question.  Is the shoulder that's been repaired the shoulder of the hand that she uses the most?  That's just a curiosity question.

A word of advice, if I may.  Watch the pain pills.  My oldest son has had two hip surgeries and one shoulder surgery.  On the first surgery he cheated somewhat on the pain pills, taking them too close together.  He said it was not fun when he started getting serious about getting off of them.  After that surgery, he was very careful about not "cheating" on the time between the pills again.
