Associated Press Endorses 'Accountability Journalism'

Op-eds are old news and neutrality and equal treatment to all sides of an issue aren't what journalism should be about, AP believes. Will the opinion editorial category disappear under the new rules?

The journalistic ethics of old do not apply to the new guidelines over at the Associated Press. The new ethics are called "accountability journalism," and the new bureau chief, Ron Fournier, believes that the conventional press model, where both sides of an argument are entitled to equal weight, is exactly what journalists need to avoid.

Fournier believes those old journalistic ethics are what stops reporters from telling the truth as they see it

The Society of Professional Journalists has the code of ethics here and the ones listed below are the ones that Fournier seems to take issue with.

Right now, Epoch Times is my favorite news source.  They have so much good stuff -- China, Spygate, business news, etc.   And they're cranking out content, like you said, and they actually separate opinion from the reporting.  They are setting the blueprint for how the new alternative digital news should be done.

I am getting pretty tired of even a lot of Fox News, who can't simply present the facts and keep their editorializing out of "The News".  They are becoming more and more just like the rest of the cable media.

The emerging internet media is a lot like the Pamphlets that sprung up prior to the Revolution and the Founding of our nation.  All we need is Real News and some 'Common Sense".  We don't need some "Journalists" interpreting the News for us and explaining what something we just saw for ourselves, actually means.  Having said that, I do appreciate the opinions of others, when they make it clear they are expressing what they think and it is only their opinion and don't attempt to spin the news.

Wow, that news (?) source Epoch is truly off the wall.  Trump rolled out no new immigration policy, all he did was say words that he always says. Where is his plan?  Legislation is what matters. Then Trump offered no proof supporting his comments. None.  Acosta's comments were honest.  This woman clearly has no integrity or is simply reading script she is paid to read.

The issue of opposing points of view is a fascinating one for I've often thought giving voice to absurdity or lies gives them a stage on which the uneducated or biased find solace and meaning. Tribes then hear the tribal song and thought goes out the window, talk over talk. Ideology preachers are a modern phenom and I count, Jordan Peterson, Dinesh D'Souza, Tucker Carlson, Ben Shapiro, Victor Davis Hanson, Steve Bannon among the best of them. Or worst?  This is an issue I want to explore further.

Aside from the wall, merit-based immigration, end catch-and-release, pushing Kate's law, electronic surveillance, crackdown on employers hiring illegals, increasing security at the ports, reducing welfare incentives for illegals, and increasing funding for ICE?  He doesn't really have one.

They are horrible.  I'll catch good clips, but the channel is crap.  I used to watch FBN but I can only take so much obsession about the Dow.  It's all automated crap that has nothing to do with the economy.
