GOP trying to get Steele out, fearing "ugly exit"

Here's a sobering thought for people who would otherwise be inclined to support Sarah Palin in 2012. She's hip-to-hip with GOP party chairman Micheal Steele, who is one of the increasingly-prickly thorns in that party's side.

Saul Anuzis of Michigan was the first to announce candidacy to replace Steele, who's got the Old Bulls upset because of his grabbing the limelight, and for what party insiders say is insufficient funds raised by the flash Steele likes to present. (If he were as good at fundraising as he thinks he is, then why ain't they givin' us more?)

Fair enough. Parties have ousted their chiefs for far less than insufficient shake-downs. But with Sarah Palin on his side, can Steele actually beat the 50-50 present odds on removal? Some say no, he'll "go out ugly"---and here's where it starts getting juicy.

It's somewhat long, but a fascinating peek into behind-the-scenes GOP politicking, from TheHill.com...

Steele has a tendency to make gaffes. Maybe someone would be better in the role--but they gotta step up!

Sounds like Steele is being held to a higher standard because he is black?

Quick, somebody name the PREVIOUS three RNC Chairmen.  OK, that's not fair.  Name the last two prior to Steele.  I bet nobody can without Googling it first!  I know I can't.

Compared to "Screamin' Howie Dean", Steele looks like Frederick Douglass.   :)) :)) :))

Question for y'all....  How much do you think support from Palin will affect the GOP's decision to fire or to retain Steele? Do you think the Tea Party crowd cares much, either way?

My take: about 30% of the decision will be tied to Palin and the evident number of Tea Party supporters within the GOP. In the final crunch, though, it's Steele goes under the Greyhound---and yes, he'll "go out ugly."

Palin is playing politics, and shes gotten pretty good at it.
I have no idea why she would want to save his sorry ass, but it definitely has something to do with her run for the WH in 2012'
My guess she is playing both sides, Tea party and RINO alike creating alliances.

Maybe she's trying to Cater to Black Conservatives?

God I hate to think Black Conservatives are that shallow.
I think she has been walking the fine line between the Tea party and the GOP, I think this is a way to appease RINO.

One thing for certain, she is one very politically astute woman.

I have no doubt she is setting herself up for a run for the WH in 2012, and she knows she needs their support.
What better way to get it, than to save Steele's ass.
