White House: Bill To Overhaul Legal Immigration System
« on: August 02, 2017, 06:26:10 AM »
Not so fast, the Bill in question will be written by two of the Senates RINO.
What could possibly go wrong? :glare:

President Donald Trump will join two leading Republican senators at the White House on Wednesday to formally introduce a bill that would slash legal immigration levels in half and implement a merit-based system for potential migrants, The Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.

GOP Sens. David Perdue of Georgia and Tom Cotton of Arkansas will reintroduce an updated version of the Reforming American Immigration for a Strong Economy (RAISE) Act, a bill they originally proposed in February that failed to gain traction in the Senate.

The legislation seeks to curtail the current practice of family chain migration and move to a points system that would “tailor the immigration system to meet the needs of our economy,” a spokeperson for Perdue’s office told TheDCNF.

The updated RAISE Act, which has also been reported by the Washington Examiner, moves the focus of Trump’s immigration agenda from cracking down on illegal immigration to reducing the number and types of people allowed to immigrate. Trump has previously couched support for the bill in terms of protecting American workers, who he says are hurt by the current immigration system.

First things first though.  I feel in order to adequately 'overhaul' the legal immigration system we need to put a moratorium on ALL immigration into this country until we are able to  adequately track who is coming into this country and finally we need to build the dang wall to keep illegals OUT! Otherwise you're never going to stop family chain migration.  Also, I'm not so sure I like the sound of 'tailoring the immigration system to our economy'; that worked out so well for Germany!

That's the problem with this BS, it merely cuts in half the amount of illegals entering the country, like putting out half a forest fire.
If Trump thinks we'll buy this bull, he's in for a huge shock.

I did listen to part of Trump's speech pertaining to this and he used the words 'assimilation'; which all sounds wonderful, and may have been acceptable decades ago, but it will be seen by all the liberal, mental midgets and groups like the ACLU as discriminatory.

I'm trying to find more info -- this bills hasn't even been given a number yet.  ????  In particular I'm trying to find out if there are any co-sponsors.

The two RINO working on it have a C rating at best, which makes them solid RINO and that's enough for me to know this is a scam.

A reflection and a suggestion.
If we ever expect to recover the Legacy of our fore Fathers, suggest that when addressing
issues such as Immigration, we preface it by defining the First Principle which governs it.
Sovereign Right is possessed by the citizens of the nation-state through its appointed/elected
representatives who act on behalf of and execute governance for the benefit of those citizens.
The concept was born in Greece and reinforced down through the ages by the the Vatican,
later the English Whigs and then our own Adams, Madison and Randolph.
Immigrants have neither any claim to nor do they hold sovereign right; since at its core,
immigration is an economic transaction, as the wise Adam Smith understood.
It involves the exchange of labor (in whatever form) for protection/subsistence mutually agreed by the parties.
Think you will hear any of this from the usual congressional schmucks??? Me neither.
Instead we're off to the races w/the usual political sanctimony couched in humanitarian blather.
Citizens get the governance they select and deserve!

The problem is ILLEGALS should have NO rights under our Constitution.  Yes, illegals provide cheap labor, but obviously we have certain laws set up in this country with the Constitution being the Supreme Law of OUR land and for its citizens.  Due to political correctness in many cases, ILLEGALS have more rights than American citizens. I don't think this is any big secret being hidden by Congress; the only real secret is how most of them really feel as opposed to what they tell their constituents and how their constituents feel. Taking things a step further, birth-right citizenship is something that was considered by the framers under Amendment XIV and the argument as to it's intent, especially now is ongoing with the disputes over illegal immigration. Obviously our grand and wonderful senators and representatives look the other way and twist the Constitution in order to obtain votes and keep the cheap labor.

I understand your comments that citizens get the governance that they select and deserve, but in the same light, if we take Rubio as an example; he was very gung ho and anti-illegal immigration and quickly changed his tune once he got elected and then joined the Gang of Eight.  He flat out lied along with most in Congress.  So ... not so sure we're getting what we deserve in that respect.

As stated before, until the U.S. gets serious about illegals and starts putting those who HIRE them in jail and hit them with large fines, we will not solve our illegal problem. Overhauling the system will do no good as long as people can profit by hiring illegals. But even that will not stop the criminals who are coming over, they are NOT coming over to work, and for that I hope our congress wakes up soon.

As for the bill, it sounds all peachy keen. The idea of controlling immigration sounds great and is not a bad idea. Now, think about this. As I understand the bill people would be allowed in the country if they will help the economy. Sounds good doesn't it? Here is the kicker, the federal government and mindless bureaucrats in Washington will be deciding what is good for the country and the economy. How has that worked out for the last 200 plus years?

That's where e-verify comes into play (though I have very mixed feelings on what that could eventually mean for all of us). Yes, the system needs to be overhauled and I believe the intent is there to do so, but the RINO's and DEMS aren't going to let that fly.  The swamp is going to have to be drained first.

Agreed.  That is the one aspect of the bill (admittedly I only scanned it briefly) that caught my attention; allowing people in that will help the economy.  Germany let millions in because they needed to increase their population ... in doing so they destroyed their country.  Also, allowing certain individuals in that would help they economy would do nothing to end chain migration.    Trump stated in his speech "assimilation" ... it is that aspect that I think is key.  People coming into this country need to assimilate to our culture and not expect "us" to assimilate and accept their culture.

As Teddy Roosevelt stated:

We should insist that if the immigrant who comes here does in good faith become an

American and assimilates himself to us he shall be treated on an exact equality with every one else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed or birth-place or origin.

But this is predicated upon the man’s becoming in very fact an American and nothing but an American. If he tries to keep segregated with men of his own origin and separated from the rest of America, then he isn’t doing his part as an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. . . We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language, for we intend to see that the crucible turns our people out as Americans, of American nationality, and not as dwellers in a polyglot boarding-house; and we have room for but one soul loyalty, and that is loyalty to the American people.

Screw Teddy, that was his interpretation at the turn of the century, one that no longer applies, nor Constitutional.
