We like to think that law enforcement is on our side.............but not all of them are.

These are local sheriffs at a gun control meeting last night. Who do you think will get quick raises and promotions, under the Obama regime and like minded thinkers?

As someone who could have been a police officer for 3 different departments, it pains me to say that I don't trust any cops these days.  Too many renegades.

The renegades are the old school conservatives. The ones that scare me, are the kids that just started shaving every day, and they were never taught the constitution in school.

The democrat/liberal message of, "safety at all costs", makes sense to them.

Obama's current message.............

If just one life is saved; shredding the constitution is worth it. There are way too many people that are good with that........including cops.

We may well be witnessing the fall of the greatest nation that ever was. Just like Rome.

You're right on all points.  We no longer seek out the best of the best either.  Old school cops joined for the right reasons, today it's isn't about what they can do to serve the public.  It's about what's in it for them...one example..20 years and out and a new career.

Another sore subject with me...best I say no more...lest I  aggravate myself...

If were worried about being aggravated, you wouldn't be hanging out on this forum.

      So far so good.  Time will tell.  Can't be much worse than some of the ones I've been on over the years.

I'm not a forum floater. I'm on this one and an engineering forum that forbids political talk. This is the only conservative forum I've been on..................works for me.

No right is absolute?

Then there are no such thing as rights.

AndyJackson

Rights are absolute when God-given.

Given by a government ?  Only as strong or permanent as the intelligence of the voters, or the selflessness of the elected.  Both going to hell in a handbasket right now, in America.

It's interesting, the take on cops.

There areold school, new wave, older, younger.

I tend to think they mirror their environment.

Crappy places like CA, DET, CHI, NY, NJ......a much higher % of crappy cops.

Good places where it's ingrained that cops 'serve and protect' only.......fewer problem cops.

I think this supersedes the young-old, today-yesterday comparisons.

60 years ago, good old Officer Seamus McClanahan would beat people half to death for payola, in a crappy place like Hell's Kitchen.  Just like today.

Or you can find a sharp, honest, sincere young 21-year-old just as easily, more likely if you're in a conservative, rural enclave.

I usually get attacked for saying anything negative about the police. I don't trust them. There are many good ones, but most are "tax collectors" for the city, county or state. They look for opportunities to fleece you.

I say it as someone who turned turned down offers from three PDs and whose friends are mostly cops.  The stories I hear when liquor loosens a few of their tongues is stunning.

Yes there are good cops, maybe even the majority but there are also a great number that are...shall we say...not so good.

Oh boy. The tales a drunk, (off duty), cop can tell. It gets a little scary.

The Raleigh chief of police instituted quotas for ticket writing. Not sure where it went.............but in the meantime, drug alley is thriving.
