Our First Female Person was on her soapbox the other day, promoting a series of new public service announcements aimed at getting kids to live healthier lives. (Actually, the PSA she talked about primarily featured a mother telling her daughter a series of lies in order to get the daughter to run up and down some stairs repeatedly... but that's another story.)

But as she talked, she couldn't help it... that Chicago slip of hers showed just a bit... and she almost came right out and told a truth. I'm including a link to the audio below, but here's the relevant quote:

"So we have to be creative as parents, particularly in the African-American communities where, you know, we don't have sports leagues, we don't have... it's not safe to play outside sometimes, uh, because our neighborhoods, uh, you know, uh, we, we, we don't have the kind of safety net that we need, uh, so we have to start sharing with each other tips because there are communities all over the country that are running into these issues and we as parents have to get creative."

I think what she's trying to say is that there are a lot of black communities where it's not safe for kids to be outside because blacks have made those neighborhoods unsafe. Uh, I think, uh, that's what she's, uh, trying to, uh, say.

Michelle doesnt fool you, T.

Could you imagine if a white first lady had passed such racial remarks as hers concerning the black communities? Truth is, we should all be free to speak truth. If it hurts, so be it.

Our society is teaching that little white lies are fine. Michelle and Barack are full of white lies and every other type of lie they can spin too.

I wonder how that sort of nagging is actually going over?

I'd guess that most parents say a silent "Thanks Michelle. Now why don't you see to your kids and I'll see to mine" when presented with implied criticism of the way they oversee their kids.

Eloquent? Are you saying shes fat? :D

Good call T, since I no longer watch TV, I miss the lying comedy Network...

It's no wonder he's half white, eh, Kay?..... :))

Here's a link to Michelle Malkin's latest article blasting the Wicked Witch out of the water (no, not Hillary):

She might want to clean up her own house before criticizing anyone else's....

BTW, off topic, but I'm going to ask a really stupid question: are you a U. of Kentucky fan? I love my UGA Bulldogs, and the SEC rules.  :)

;D  Well, if you or I were to say what Michelle Obama said on the radio or tv, can you imagine? Saturday Night Live (SNL) could have a field day with Obama and Michelle if it werent such a liberal show. Agree, MM?

You would be surprised how often I am asked about my name. ;) My name is Ula Kay. Some call me U.K. and some call me Kay. I prefer Kay bc most Americans tend to mispronounce my simple first name which is often spelled Eula, but I had to be different. Uggh!

I love SEC any football team. I root for the SEC in all bowl games! FYI~ We have Georgia Bulldogs in the family.  ;)

MM, You bet SEC RULES!! Those Southern boys are tough!! No wonder the North had a hard time back then, eh? ;) They should still feel shame... They had every advantage except for home field~~~ and to think.... They call us Hillbillies, Rednecks...  :)) If they only knew!!

You have a lovely first name. My maternal grandmother's was Onnie.

Just imagine the outrage and anger amongst the left if, say, Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachman were the ones who said what the howler monkey did. Why, there'd be cries for Bachman's immediate resignation, and Palin's head. I stopped watching SNL after John Belushi's death.

I admit to being a football fanatic. I support first and foremost my beloved Dawgs, then any team from the SEC that isn't playing UGA. This past BCS championship, I lost my voice due to almost literally screaming for Auburn. Here's a funny anecdote: My father, for some reason he never shared with anyone, hated Alabama and Bear Bryant with a passion. Very strange, since he was born in Andalusia (sp?). I was raised from his knee on football and baseball, but he would not allow us to watch the Tide on TV, even if they were playing UGA. My brother and I would have to go into my room and listen on the radio, softly so Daddy couldn't hear it. Like I said, he never told anyone why he hated the school so much. But last year, I was rooting for 'bama, and every time I cheered I found myself saying "Sorry, Daddy", or "I'm sorry, Daddy, forgive me"...along those lines. God called him home back in '88.

I'm sorry for hijacking the thread, but I tend to ramble.  :-[

Aww... Yeah, he is alive and well in a better home now. 'Tis still sad and we miss our loved ones greatly.

I am a Roll Tide fan.

I do miss him greatly, but sure wish he'd told somebody about 'Bama first.  :(  I'm glad to see a fellow SEC fan here, hope there's more.

But back to the topic, I just don't believe one can legislate healthy eating habits, or lifestyle choices. They start in the home, with the parents. Of course many neighborhoods aren't safe anymore, it does seem as though many are black. I think it's too much 50 cent (or whateverhisnameis) and not enough Clarence Thomas hero worship among black youths.

You're right there! This story -- and the political 'prostitution' you refer to -- ties in well with your post on the Pigford debacle.
