well yeah, you are right if we include all of those who are discouraged and simply have quit searching for work and are not receiving any unemployment checks.

However, I thought the news reported, earlier in the week, there was a decline from around 9.6% to around 9%. Where does this 10.3% come from on Feb 11th?  What is going on? Smells fishy to me!

OK, I went to thehill.com and found something on this subject....

http://thehill.com/blogs/on-the-money/801-economy/143579-poll-unemployment-is-biggest-problem-to-be-tackled (http://thehill.com/blogs/on-the-money/801-economy/143579-poll-unemployment-is-biggest-problem-to-be-tackled)

Of course The Hill leans way over to the left and so this column is written to try to make the Dems appear as though they care the most about jobs. We all know better.

However, check out the job numbers in this article.

If Obama doesnt bring these job numbers down considerably... He will lose reelection. That is my thought and I dont see him doing much to help this solve this issue.

G.B. had a guy on his show Friday that said if everyone was counted that the true rate would be close to 20%. I think that may be a little high. I'm just thankfull that I have a decent job. :-\

The feds routinely "cook the books" on a lot of issues; unemployment is one of them.

Gallup and Rasmussen, among others, routinely release their own surveys of the unemployed showing numbers considerably higher than the government's. More to the point, NOBODY EVER releases numbers lower than the government's.

My guess is that the true overall unemployment rate is closer to 20%. In my field (highway construction) it's well over 30% in many parts of the country.

Government numbers are almost always flawed, if for no other reason than that they're produced by politicians and their appointees. In the case of unemployment statistics, the government leaves out the underemployed (full-time workers forced into part-time work, workers forced to take significant pay cuts, etc.) and those who have simply left the job market once their unemployment comp benefits expired. (Some have also taken early retirement.)

Why?????  do people feel that people have left the job market once their unemployment comp benefits expired.  I know people who keep looking all the time.

I agree with you, but I guess we can blame the confusion on how our govenrment determines the status of unemployed workers. I know you know this already.  ;)

As o b will become a unemployed worker will he get unemployment comp at the end of his 4 years?    :-\  Along with the VP.   ;D

I believe the MSM, Michelle and Obama believe he will win the presidency again. Also, I have made note of quite a few polls which state Obama is well ahead of the Republican front runners.  :))

If he is to win, he had better make some drastic moves to help turn around this economic current which is pulling him under and sinking him. The problem is that his core political beliefs go against capitalism.

I think many people believe he will win a 2nd term. What are they basing this on? His likeability? It will take more than his amicable personality to win the prize the 2nd time. Also, I dont think the Tea Party will allow a John McCain type to win the GoP nomination this time. I am convinced the Tea Party will place the MSM in checkmate during the New Jersey primary.

Yay for the Tea Party!

Based on how poor a job he's done as a stand-in for a real President, the real question should be, will he deserve to even draw oxygen?

My fondest wish is that in January 2013, when Hussein's replacement is sworn in, the new President orders federal marshals to seize Obama and his White House team, and have these crooks in cages at Gitmo by sundown.

You dont sound as though you are the type to show any mercy. However, I would like Rahm to go with them to Gitmo too!

Well, if you're talking about mercy, then look no farther than the same Donks who condone the cold-blooded deliberate murder of 50 million unborn American citizens, in the name of convenience. Or the union gangsters stealing someone's wages to use for candidates that the union member opposes.

Tonight at Drudge, the headline there says, DEBT NOW EQUALS ENTIRE ECONOMY. (Link: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/feb/14/debt-now-equals-total-us-economy/ (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/feb/14/debt-now-equals-total-us-economy/)  )

THAT one is entirely Obama's doing, with help from the totally criminal Democratic Party running the 110th and 111th Congresses. These socialist monkeys threw good government and common sense into a toilet (along with their deviant-loving, druggie-supporting sense of morality).

Mercy? Not toward America's enemies from within. Not toward the Party of Parasites.

During the next campaign when challenged on this Obama will claim he averted a depression that Bush caused and he will be laughed out of the building...

I guess you just told me!!

@ Yeah,Wallington... He will claim he saved us from another Great Depression. How would he know that? It sounds as though he can predict the future and stop anything harmful from coming to fruition.

That wasn't telling YOU off. I was just warming to one of my favorite topics, removing Marxists where they are found.

To specifically address your point about sending Rahm Emmanuel (towel-snapping bathhouse stalker extraordinaire) to Gitmo, I would send him 5,000 feet straight up in a C-130 with its loading doors open and not one single thing inside that plane to hang onto.

Gravity works.

That's CUP.  ;D  And I haven't got that far yet. Otherwise I'd have worded the above a bit differently.

Here's a link to the Emmanuel bathhouse episode.

I didnt mean to imply that you told me off, Quiller. You were simply passionate in your perspective and that is what I want our next GoP presidential candidate.

I thought I had read some stuff on Rahm and his sexuality. You just confirmed it. Thanks!

.....and then send in exterminators clad in hazmat suits to fumigate the place. The new president should also count the silver and inventory any more valuables. It might be a while before he/she can occupy the White House.

If Nixon can be forced out, so can the Chicago Mob now running the White House.
