Billy made some great observations.  It really is a lot of work to arrest somebody- searches, paperwork etc.  Plus there is no room in the jails and the government would just release them anyway.  That would be a waste of the officers time.

I come from a police background and currently work with sworn officers.  Most of them are conservative and will keep me up on where the best ammo sales are and such.  A couple are always asking me if we have enough ammo, have I been practicing with my "new" shotgun, and am I ready for the "war" that is to come.

If the government ever hires all the thugs it would take to steal our guns, I doubt they would take the time to do any paperwork.  And to the original question, yes there will be bodies in the streets.

You are talking about the "brown shirts" Obama is working towards?  Paperwork what paperwork?

Not talking about anyone in particular, I just do not see our law enforcement or our military stealing citizens guns. IF guns are to be confiscated, it will probably be done by a new organization. These are only my thoughts, which I assume are still legal.

Not sure if that last sentence is sarcasm.  I agree with you that it will not be current law enforcement or military taking our guns.

Yes sarcasm, directed at the government. Hope no offense was taken, it was not intended.

Very little wit, momma always wondered how a boy with so little wit could get into so much trouble.

The organizations won't be new, but the people leading and manning them will be.

Look at the "purge" that is going on in the top brass of the military even as we speak! Obama is replacing real officers with political sycophants! I've heard Billy and other LE types complain, more than once, about how police department chiefs, etc, are all political appointees, and are appointed by Liberal Hacks!

Well... guess who decides what kind of cops to hire and how to train them?

Those very same political appointees and Liberal hacks!

Now, compare that with what our educational system was like just a few generations ago. We've gone from saying the pledge of allegiance and prayers in public school classrooms...

...to this.

Bill Ayers is a retired professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, formerly holding the titles of Distinguished Professor of Education and Senior University Scholar.

People like Ayers are the ones deciding the curriculum (can you say common core - which, incidentally Jeb Bush supports whole heartedly) that our children are taught!

That is how we've gone from Pray in schools and the pledge of allegiance in schools to forbidding students from praying is school or wearing a shirt with the U.S flag on it because it is "offensive".

The same thing is under way with our law enforcement establishment and it needs to be stopped!

You make it really hard to argue that point. But, looking at it from that viewpoint I would say it is the supreme court who is speeding this along. Or at least helping.

Dr. Meh

I think darth is making some valid points here. If we somehow have a "national emergency" (i.e. dirty bombs, race wars, etc.) that leads to martial law or simply a suspension of the constitution, we won't need pesky paperwork and warrants to get in the way.

Also to darth's point, I don't think the vast majority of gun owners would be willing to die on that principle. That's not to say it isn't worth dying for nor does it mean that some won't make that sacrifice. It simply means that without an organized resistance group, most people will surrender to overwhelming government numbers. That's what was different between now and the Revolutionary War. There is no one group standing up and saying "join us so we can fight this together."
