Once the slaughter is over and it's time to get down to business.
What do you want their priorities to be?

Health care...etc???

I'm curious, because I have yet to hear the Pubs spell out their plans, I hear a lot of rhetoric, but nothing solid.

I will be taking this thread and summarizing it into a letter to send off to the Pub party, they need to know that just because they won, the "business as usual" bull shit is over!

Now tell them what you expect them to do.

Deficits and debt.

50% reduction in government

After repealing HusseinCare and the financial deform bill:

- Repeal the Sixteenth Amendment and transition us to the FairTax, eliminating the IRS.
- Term limits for representatives.
- Work to remove government from health care and move us to a consumer-centric model.
- A full audit of the Fed
- Cut the budget by 50%, and significantly increase military R&D....

and that's just the first week!

My first priority is for the dems to lose the majority.  Until that's done, I'm not much into making a wish list.  If we haven't expressed our unhappiness and our priorities to our Congressional members over the past 18 months, what's the point?

If we win the majority, then we'll talk.

Kill Obamacare
Cut GovCo spending 25% immediately
Require all who are receiving any public assistance show proof of citizenship

Next 3 months -
Devise  plan of action to cut spending 30% over the next 3 years
Dissolve all retirement plans for all elected officials

Then the rest of the Year -
Devise plan to scale back and close military bases in Europe and Japan, it's well beyond the time for them to take care of their own security
Devise plan to replace all Federal Tax's with a flat sales tax that excludes medical and grocery expenditures
Create Website that itemizes every dime of government expenditure down to the pencil's and paper clips.

Now that's just a start

I really like this one.  No more free handouts.   Including free health care. >:(

Instead of talking about what I would like to see, I'm going to talk about the things I've heard congressional republican leadership actually speak about.

We will kill Obamacare. We won't be able to take it out totally (ie repeal) until 2012, but we can try to kill it with a thousand little cuts over the next 2 years. Things like not funding the 15,000 new IRS agents needed to enforce Obamacare. With dozens of moves like this we can stop Obamacare from being a practical reality ling before we finalize it's repeal.

Next we will roll back the 88% increase to nondefense discretionary spending over the past 2 years. Bring it back to 2008 levels immediately.

Third, start clawing back any unspent stimulus funds.

Once we've done these things then we can start looking at areas of common ground. Maybe something like more charter schools or maybe an expansion of voucher programs.

Make no mistake people. We will make gains. And there will he times we can intimidate enough Dems to our side to win veto-proof majorities on certain issues. But Obama will still have the veto and that will limit the possible for the next 2 years.

And Pigs can fly .....

I trust them about as far as I could throw them.

It has, but this new movement is real, and after the reps not up for election this round make the connection with the Tea Party and the onslaught, it will get their attention real quick.

Exactly! Remember that Obama is a stiff-necked ideologue with the veto pen. The self preservation instincts of guys like Ben Nelson will be needed to get us to veto proof majorities, but there is only so far the Ben Nelsons of the world are going move. That's why we can't expect to get too crazy before 2012.

I am betting the Ben Nelsons, other RINOs, and even some harder lib Dems will inflate us to a 2/3 veto-proof majority...   Once these people see all these new faces coming into DC, I think that will be the moment we will get them to vote more with us...  At least on the stuff that is clear the public is pissed about...

Agreed. And the stuff I've outlined ought to be achievable marks. Better than 60% of the voters want to repeal Obamacare. The stimulus is highly unpopular and regarded as a failure. And everyone wants to get onboard with discretionary budget cuts. But talk of massive tax reforms and the like won't come until 2012.
