Well it makes sense. Most inner city kids no nothing about history, or math, or English....

Sadly, it's not just the "Inner City" that is ignorant now.

The majority of ANTIFA (ANTI First Amendment) are WHITE.

Just like the actual German National Socialists.

While you were sleeping, Baltimore removed 4 Confederate monuments from around the city:

http://twitchy.com/gregp-3534/2017/08/16/and-poof-theyre-gone-baltimore-removes-confederate-monuments-during-the-night/amp/

To understand these monuments, we need to understand who erected them.

After the Civil War this Nation strained to deal with the horror.

Decades passed, and with time there were a series of ENCAMPMENTS, where former Union and Confederate Soldiers met, to talk, to heal.

Union Soldiers, especially, began to understand their Southern Brothers. That not one in a hundred ever owned a slave - or even agreed with it.

Southern Whites were, by far and large, sharecroppers. Imported slaves depressed their wages, and stole their jobs.

Slavery was then, and always has been, a benefit to the 1%. Then and now.

Union Soldiers already had monuments aplenty, and now they understood their Southern counterparts deserved the same.

So the statues of Lee, Jackson, and the rest began to be erected - with the full consent, approval, sometimes even funding of Northern Soldiers.

Doubt me ? Why do you think there are (or were), so many monuments to the South in Baltimore and Gettysburg ? Neither Pennsylvania nor Maryland were ever in the Confederacy.

And if the citizens of these UNION States did not agree to them, how could they have ever been erected ?

These statues and memorials were NOT erected by one side in DEFIANCE. To the contrary, they were erected, by mutual understanding, to symbolise that there was now peace, that our Country had HEALED.

To remove them, to destroy them now, is a show of both ignorance and cruelty. And a BETRAYAL to both Union and Confederate, who, at least in their time, forgave each other and passed in peace.

It is very simple. The leftists dems have nothing left. This is just some new words for the same old song. The fact few democrat have criticized the state senator in Missouri is proof positive of where they are. What they might be doing is handing the 2018 mid terms in spite of the incompetence of McConnell and Ryan. We should appreciate them driving more of the White vote to the GOP.

Your history is absolutely correct, but Marxist care nothing about American history, they are all about fomenting hate through racial division by tearing down and erasing our history and this is only their first move.
There is one upside to all of this, these are small groups attacking liberal hubs, and the moment they go to a County/city where conservatives are in charge, this shit will come to a screeching halt, people will not only be arrested, investigations will begin and the rats will do their best to hide, but investigations will reach the State level and people will start going to prison.

Truth is, the Left lost, they know they're out of power for years to come so they have nothing to lose.
The leadership alive today, won't be around to be the voice of reason when the left regroups as a party/movement, so in the interim, the party has devolved into nothing more than angry anarchists and the entire world is watching to see what happens next.
I personally predict riots, where these scum start burning cities like Baltimore to the ground.

I'm still just baffled by the "war on statues". It's also a war on art ... by the left!!! How ironic, right. This has nothing to do with racism. Most people of color don't even care about them any more than any other tourist that gazes while passing by.

It's history. They were created to remind us of that history - for better or worse. And it's our hope to remember the past so we can avoid repeating mistakes. But we're aren't so good at it, are we.

To steal a thought from Mark Stein, this "art" has been commandeered by the left to incite a cry of racism across our country. The originators weren't trying to promote racism. And many of the "sheep" have bit the hook - so desperate I guess.

You know where I think this is going? I think the left is attacking the constitution. If they can discount the founding fathers of our country, then they can slime the constitution too and move the masses toward their Marxist agenda. I haven't heard that anywhere ... my own deduction. There's just too much weirdness going on for this to be a natural event.

Make sure you get your books in a safe place - those publications that don't meet the left's religious agenda will be labeled racist and burned.

You know, I never thought about who placed them and when. I'm interested if you have that fact on a few - please post.

But I would guess that it was the Dims because they seem to be the ones willing to pursue funding for the arts. That would make it even more ironic (or moronic in the case of the Dims).

How come I haven't been hearing about that on the LSM?

Here's the apt LSM slogan - "Biased, contrived, and unfair ... but we don't care. " It even rhymes. They can have this if they like - a little truth in advertising from them would be welcome.

I'm not in favor of Confederate statues, but I think this sudden urge of the Left to tear these statues down; is more about the DemonRat Left burying their past than anything else.

Right now I think it more a DemonRat Distraction from the BS going on for the last 8 months, that coming back to bit them in the ass.

Your statement was excellent. I take it to mean that the statues don't keep you up at night, but wouldn't be missed if they went away. I (a white guy originally from St. Louis and now in Ohio) feel similarly. Thanks for posting it. You and a few others spawned a though - I'm going to state a perspective below and am not attacking yours; just adding a view.

History is a mainstay which we have to learn from but our nation seems to suck at that. I am appalled by slavery and what was done to the native Americans; it's a disgrace from our past. But the destruction of statues isn't dealing with the root cause of any of today's societal problems ... it's burying the past as you said. And where does it stop? Should we only remember our founders for their short-comings and remove their images from display? Should we eradicate our nation's roots from the history books.

Let's take Jefferson. He contributed greatly to the founding of our nation. He also owned slaves at a time when it was perceived as normal. Do we remove him from our books and miss the point that he could become so pre-eminent in establish a nation while still participating in a practice that we view as appalling? There's a lesson for all of us in that about compromise and rationalization!

I've been to some of these cities and walked by some of the statues - though I barely recall. I saw a guy on a horse and wasn't that interested in anything but how it spruced up the area. Now that I think on it, I know it was Lee on a steed. So now I think it was a depiction of a leader who was on the wrong side of the civil war. It reminds me that I'm glad God gave victory to the north and freedom to those who were enslaved. I don't even think anyone had that much intent behind the statues. And history books can be written strongly racist - but I can read them and think otherwise. I do it all the time with most other issues - read the opposing viewpoint to check or underscore my own thinking.

Should we start burning books next? I know you don't think that but there are some who probably do.

The lie that the Civil War was about slavery continues today, and google does its best to continue the cause and blame the South/Right, when it was the left that owned history.
Do a search for yourself, and after you've come to the conclusion that slavery was a South issue, google the last two states to end slavery.
I can assist you in discovering the truth.

"New Jersey was the last state in the United States of America to abolish slavery."
Yeahhhhh...that was a northern state, an inconvenient truth the left hates. Fact is, it was the left that was the slavers, it was the left that erected Civil war statues that have become a part of our history and culture, both of which the left is working hard to pin their shameful history on the right, while erasing it.

But don't let PC get in the way of how we view human nature, fact is, man is all about conquering his environment, and if that entails making another do his labor in return for sustenance turning into indebtedness, the Emancipation Proclamation did nothing to change that, man will quickly devolve if push comes to shove.
Man today, is no different than man 10 thousand years ago.

  Too funny!

"The truth is, the Democrats have a pretty poor history on Civil Rights, including Nancy Pelosi's own father who was the Mayor of Baltimore — and was one of the people who dedicated statues to Robert E. Lee and 'Stonewall' Jackson, and in his speech said that they defended 'sacred institutions.' What are those 'sacred institutions'? One of them is slavery."

At the dedication, he said, "Today, with our nation beset by subversive groups and propaganda which seeks to destroy our national unity, we can look for inspiration to the lives of Lee and Jackson to remind us to be resolute and determined in preserving our sacred institutions."

According to the Baltimore Sun, "The Lee-Jackson statue was erected in 1948 after a $100,000 donation from Baltimorean J. Henry Ferguson. Ferguson's father was a friend of Confederate President Jefferson Davis." Many believe that the statues erected during this time were to push back on the growing Civil Rights movement.

Baltimore's current Mayor Catherine Pugh decided to remove this monument and others on Tuesday.

Pelosi has called for the removal of all confederate-linked statues in the Capitol Building, but has yet to denounce her father's support for Lee and Jackson — nor has she condemned the racist roots of the Democratic Party. She also did not remove the statues when she was Speaker of the House.
