A growing number of people are cutting down on daily showering and hair-washing. So could you join the extreme soap-dodgers?
If you are reading this article over breakfast, the chances are you have recently stepped into the shower, lathered up your hair and torso, rinsed off, towelled and blow-dried, before dousing your armpits with deodorant, and wafting on a fog of perfume or aftershave.
Then again, maybe not. The New York Times has just reported on a new trend towards what's sometimes known as soap-dodging. Among those who have cut down on daily showers, baths or hair-washing were a woman who swipes a sliced lemon under her armpits instead of deodorant, another who uses baby wipes to freshen up after her lunchtime runs, and a salesman who shampoos only once a month and gave up anti-perspirant for three years.

I'm not even sure I've ever heard anything she's ever sung.
If she can't afford toilet paper, that's poverty. If she can afford it but won't use it, then she should buy a bidet. Bring her in closer touch with her French side.
It's just a passing fancy like "locavorianism" - the silly idea that eating food that was grown within some distance made you environmentally noble. Seemed to me that last summer it was all the rage among the extended pinkie-finger set and now you don't hear a word about it.
Same thing with this silly idea. A bunch of ain't-I-just-the-cutting-edgiest types will take it up and make as much noise about the idea as possible. Before long, like about three days, the down side of the idea will become hard to ignore, the late-night comedians will hear about it and the guy who wrote a book about it will be on "The View" or "Oprah".
I'm predicting this fad will have a shorter lifespan then most lefty fads because practitioners will get a sour "I know" when they proudly announce what it is they're doing for the planet.

One has to admire the ignorance that one is willing to expose of themselves, all in the name of "I'm a bigger Greenie that you are".
It's just another case of some people adopting the "European" way of life.
If bathing once a month was good enough for Queen Victoria, it's good enough for the greenies!
