Sure, it's a feel good story and I applaud the teen in his efforts.
However, why is this even a story? When I was growing up, things like this were an everyday occurrence, I myself used to ride my bike to three different jobs, (totaling over 75 miles a day, sometimes more than 100), but I didn't mind, I was making good money.
I know many of you struggled as well willing to go the extra mile, it's what was expected of our generation, but sadly, today this is somewhat of an anomaly.

This isn't no ten mile walk but I used to get off school 12:10pm off the bus by 12:35, ran home about 200 yards jumped on bike and road 7-8 miles to work 5 days per week and Saturday. Including getting up at 3:00am 5-7 days per week and kicking papers off the back of a newspaper truck until 6:00am then took a shower and made it to the bus stop by 6:50am.
I thought every kid did this. At least most of my friends did.

If this kid keeps this attitude he will be very successful. I remember what my first boss told me about folks who don't try and have bad attitudes. He said, be grateful for them because it just reduces the competition.

This is true, all of my friends who are on social security choose not to work. Ironically because they say the unskilled jobs is too hard (even if its in retail) or the pay is too low. So they choose to stay at home get social security instead.

I think it's fairly newsworthy, since it would seem that most kids don't even have the ambition God gave a sloth.  The fact that this kid got off the couch and not only went a few blocks, but miles, well frankly, I'm shocked.

God bless him.  He'll no doubt carry the burden for 50 slugs for the next 50 years.  Who all vote dem, and for the kid to pay more taxes year in & year out.

I'll admit it.  I'm ready to grab my SS the first minute that I can.  Then work up to the limit, and make money under-the-table every other way that I can.

And give my sons every penny I can tax-free, then give them cars, the house, and so on, in creative ways to avoid taxation.

I'm gonna work the govt every way I can to get back what I've put in, and transfer intra-generational wealth to my family.

I have to laugh at the propaganda out there everywhere, trying to convince you to not take SS until 70.

The 8 years that you forfeit the checks, take a long time to recoup in a higher monthly payment.  As in...you'll die before you get it back, probably.  And the dems can spend your $ on some more illegals and other bums.

Yeah well I can't I can blame you. And I guess it could work in the US.

In Norway though and you can only get SS when you are bankrupt i.e if you loose job but have $2000 in your account you have to spend that money before being allowed to recieve SS, and once you register NAV (unemployment directorate) you forfeit legal rights of all your bank accounts and financial activity to the directorate (This means that they can see all your transactions, and even withdraw money from the account if you i.e one friend transfers $50 to you after you helped him with something). So if you are going to do this you need to take all money black and never put them into a bank account, not even foreign banks.

My friend just lost his job but had $6000 in his account which he withdrewed after registering for SS. After eating kebab one day he covered my expense and I transferred the money I owed him to his account, the government came in and took the $20

Wow, that's weird.  Almost sounds like a conservative approach to welfare.  How the hell did that happen in the socialist utopia of Norway  ?

In America, it's basically political.  They sold it as a means to help only the destitute druing the depression, then couldn''t help themselves from promising it to everyone forevermore, to buy votes.  The they stole all the money for other freebies to buy more votes, and don't even have the cash for today's recipients, now it's $ going directly from today's workers to today's retirees.  Too much of a mess to ever fix without threatening votes, so they won't ever fix it.

How the hell is that conservative approach?

Conservative approach would be negative income tax imo, not selling your entire life to the government so they control all aspects of it and traps you in perpetual state of unemployment lol
