LAS VEGAS (CBS Las Vegas) — A Las Vegas business owner with 114 employees fired 22 workers today, apparently as a direct result of President Obama's re-election.

"David" (he asked to remain anonymous for obvious reasons) told Host Kevin Wall on 100.5 KXNT that "elections have consequences" and that "at the end of the day, I need to survive."

Here's an excerpt from the interview. Click the audio tab below to hear even more from this compelling conversation:

"I've done my share of educating my employees. I never tell them which way to vote. I believe in the free system we have, I believe in the right to choose who they want to be president, but I did explain as a business owner that I have always put my employees first. I always made sure that when I went without a paycheck that made sure they were paid. And I explained that I always put them first and unfortunately I'm at a point where I'm being forced to have to worry about me and my family now and a business that I built from just me to 114 employees.

This fellow laid people off because of sour grapes and to make a statement.  I cannot believe that the necessity to lay off 22 out of 114 occurred in less than 24 hours, or that he thought that necessity would be fixed in less than 24 hours if Romney had won.  He's an asshole is what he is.  Or he had 22 too many to start with.

Thank you for remembering......

My apologies then.  I still feel NO sympathy for them. Only the business owner that invests his LIFE into his business.  The Obama voter not only destroys growth in current business, but they make it near impossible to start a NEW business that could hire them.

If you keep taking from the golden goose and don;'t kill her, she will get tired of being harassed and just leave.

You hit the nail on the head.  About 95% of those who subscribe to Ayn Rand's theory of Objectivism won't get that tap on the shoulder, either.  They'll be down in the valley with great unwashed.

I don't have a problem with that, i believe everyone should work for what they get, but there are some general rules they should understand and follow.... like those who are disable...........

NOBODY disagrees with that.  The question is, as I've been asking, are Obama supporters mentally disabled?  And does that mean they're entitled to OUR stuff?

You predicted it.  Now we'll see.  Most of the predictions in this forum have turned out WAY off the mark.  I am betting yours will be no different.

Hey pal, you've got most of it wrong.  There's a very rich employer in Vegas that supported and gave alot of money to the Romney campaign.  This is the man supposedly owning alot of property and places to work.  He also said that he would have to lay off some people because of the high prices he would have to pay towards their healthcare.  Said he had no choice and that he would have to lay off some workers if Obama got re-elected because of the price of healthcare.

And all of that occurred on November 7?  Give me a break.  Healthcare costs have been increasing faster than inflation for years, and the full impact of Obamacare is not known yet.  Nor is it known what that impact will be.  And he's already laying off because of it?  I know companies that once had stellar health care plans that have scaled way back, and a lot of that occurred before Obama was ever a candidate for president.

I've been in business a while myself.  Not at the level this guy has, but I know games when I see them.  And BS when I see that, too.

You're right again (IMHO).  HUGE tax hikes are destined for January. Soon after that, employers will have to make a decision about healthcare. They can either hire a PART-TIME workforce, lay off a number of employees to pay for their most necessary employees or drop healthcare and let the government/employee take care of their own.  And that was the plan all along to create a "single payer" system.

The stories are starting.....  I was listening to Brian Sussman and Melody Morgan yesterday morning.  Melody said her sister in law, who voted for Obama in 2008 and happily again in 2012, walked into her work Wednesday morning and received her pink slip along with others.   The same show a women from Sacramento called in that her husband's union shop of 500 came in Wednesday and were told the company was closing at the end of the year.

It seems to be happening everywhere.  Toy
