A Few Jefferson Quotes
« on: January 20, 2013, 08:43:36 AM »
But I love the first quote from JFK, last of what it meant to be a Democrat, a time when libs knew what the Constitution actually meant.

John F. Kennedy held a dinner in the white House for a group of the brightest minds in the nation at that time. He made this statement:"This is perhaps the assembly of the most intelligence ever to gather at one time in the White House with the exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."
---------------------------------------------------

"When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."

-- Thomas Jefferson

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government."

-- Thomas Jefferson

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."

--Thomas Jefferson

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."
-- Thomas Jefferson

Here is another on how future generations were to interpret the Constitution:

"On every question of construction, let us carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it was passed."

It's just incredible to me how prophetic these are, but also because they have been true long before him.

This is just more proof that libs have low intellect.

If libs actually understood what our Founders were warning about (our current Govt) they would never have voted Dim in the first place.

Exactly, it's why the Founders kept each one of the Amendments short and sweet, as well as the rest of our Founding documents, so they would have to be taken the way they were written, literally, not dissected.

Forty years ago, he would have been laughed out of the public arena because people knew the truth behind the Second, but today?

Quote
"Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations-entangling alliances with none."

Thomas Jefferson

"It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliance with any portion of the foreign world" - George Washington

But this one will always stay in my mind ...

" If the American People ever allow the banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers occupied. The issuing power of money should be taken from the bankers and restored to Congress and the people to whom it belongs. I sincerely believe the banking institutions having the issuing power of money are more dangerous to liberty than standing armies."

Thomas Jefferson
"Christians are expected to pacify angry Muslims, Communist brats and homosexual radicals and Mexicans who convinced themselves that they own our land. That tells me the Christians are the better people among brutal and violent beasts."  Yawn - 15th May, 2013
