TRUMP TO PREVENT CATASTROPHIC FOREST FIRES. MORE LOGGING

You have no idea how happy this makes me.

President Trump issued an executive order allowing agencies to do more to prevent massive wildfires.
The order came one day after Trump signed GOP-backed wildfire legislation.
Wildfires have burned more than 8.5 million acres this year.
President Donald Trump moved forward with policies aimed at preventing catastrophic wildfires while the media breathlessly covered the government funding battle.

Trump issued an executive order Friday to allow for active management of forest and rangelands, including thinning and removing debris from millions of acres of federal lands.

The order also calls on federal officials to streamline regulations and permitting processes to allow the harvest of at least 3.8 billion board feet from U.S. Forest Service lands and 600 million board feet from Bureau of Land Management lands.

That represents a massive increase in timber sales from federal lands. For example, loggers harvested 2.9 billion board feet from Forest Service lands in 2017, according to federal figures. But even Trump's increased allowance for loggers is still about one-quarter of what was harvested in 1973.

Trump also asked federal officials to do more to maintain roads into hard-to-reach areas where fires can spread.
Snip~````

Democrats and environmentalists tend to blame global warming for the increasingly massive western wildfires. Republicans, however, argue more active management of forests through thinning, clearing of dead and dying trees and logging is needed to prevent wildfires from getting out of control.

"This executive order will save lives and communities throughout the West!" the Congressional Western Caucus tweeted Friday.

Wait a minute, Trump signed into law a forest fire prevention bill that will prevent forest fires? That sort of nonsense will not sit right with the environmentalists. Not having forest fires to blame on global warming climate change weather just won't do.

Great move. I hope some of the tree hugging citizenry will take it upon themselves to clear the brush around their homes.

There's a lot of truth in that, not to mention all those innocent trees that will be sacrificed for the greed of evil capitalists.

Remember all the protests back in the 80s and 90s, Earth First type radicals? Trump just gave Soros pink pussy hat brigade a new cause.
But something tells me things will be far different this time around, aside from saving communities from burning, loggers won't put up with that shit and neither will the communities that live off of logging, or used to anyway.
This is our lives we're talking about and this time everyone is pissed, I hope they're stupid enough to show up, I guarantee you, my area will go to blows over their presence and gladly kick their asses all the way back to the valley and Bay Area..

This conversation reminds me of some personal remembrances. In the 70's I was running the roads in central and north Louisiana. There was much logging and even then there were some tree huggers who complained. After a clear cut a new crop would be planted. Just think, now that replanting of those pine trees is now ready for another harvest. That is a definition of a renewable resource.

True, the left refuses to understand, there are laws that protect old growth, the trees planted today can be harvested in 20 years thanks to genetic modification.
We have a lot of private logging areas up here, 10s of thousands of acres planted just 20 years ago, all ready to log. Good or bad, they aren't interested in waiting 60 years for a forest to mature, so they're planting their own.
What made it worse is all the envirofreaks from the bay Area took USFS to court and won with all sorts of BS.
The Fed had the worst lawyers in the world, but that was part of the Clinton scheme to kill logging in the West, by assuring the fed lost in court by sending a lousy team.
Thirty years later and we're still paying for this BS, but if Trump sees to it that funds do not go to USFS law enforcement, we can take back the forests in our area.
I used to patrol half of ElDorado County in a fire truck, up to the Tahoe forest, one guy, just me, but after the court ruling, USFS was forced to hire an army of college kids every summer to patrol the forest on trail bikes to cite people for riding in the forest.
That's right, the govt hired kids to ride all over the forest to stop people riding in the forest. :sneaky:

Your post struck another nerve with me. Why does the government own all this land? I understand holding land that may be needed for national defense and for some national parks. All other land should be put on the market with proceeds to go to paying off the national debt. Then pass a balanced budget amendment. Sorry for derailing the thread.

I used to advocate for the States to take possession of the land, but now that the West coast is controlled by Marxists, most of the land would probably be locked off to the public.

Yep. Sell it to individuals and private entities and let be used for its highest and best use.

That would require a whole new set of laws, that would more than likely be overturned as unconstitutional.
Think about it, all the money is tied up in the left, Silicon Valley, Soros etc, they would buy up these lends and lock them to foot traffic only. Being private land, the govt wouldn't have a say in what is done with them, so they couldn't stipulate rules at sale, stating differently.
Once it's private, previous rules no longer apply.

Er................surely well intentioned sentiments, yet given the
political attitudes and behaviors in places such as California;
shouldn't we encourage more forest fires rather than less???
