Title: Update in Reply #9: Trump threatens government shutdown over border wall funding
Post by: Solar on August 23, 2017, 08:53:02 AM
Notice how Trump appears to be solely targeting Dims? Makes me wonder if he made a deal with the Establishment for funding and will make political hay over Dims rejecting, despite the fact they haven't the power to stop it.
His statement: "We are building a wall on the southern border, which is absolutely necessary,"
Sounds like he knows for a fact it's finally going to happen, so let's get some political capital out of it going forward.
Anyone else see it this way?

President Trump on Tuesday threatened to shut down the federal government if Congress doesn't present him with a spending bill for the next fiscal year that includes funding for a wall on the southern border.

"The obstructionist Democrats would like us not to do it, but believe me, if we have to close down our government, we're building that wall," Trump said at a rally in Phoenix.

Trump reiterated his message that he was elected to help boost national security and keep illegal immigrants out of the country, many of whom he said are dangerous. He noted that he's met with several families who have lost loved ones due to violence by illegal immigrants.

"I promised these families the deaths of their loved ones will not have been in vain," he said.

As he has since he started running for office last year, Trump said the border wall was going to happen, and warned Democrats that they were harming national security by opposing it.

"We are building a wall on the southern border, which is absolutely necessary," he said.

"Let me be very clear to Democrats in Congress who oppose a border wall and stand in the way of border security," he added. "You are putting all of Americans' safety at risk."

Well, it's been rumored that he's campaigning for 2020 and this issue is what catapulted him into the Presidency; however, in the last budget, it was my understanding that monies were allocated for the repair of the existing wall and that there was text in the bill that stipulated that there would be no money for adding additional wall, nor would there be any funding allocated for a wall in the future. After Trump signed that bill he announced that they were working on the wall making it sound like they were adding to the wall when in essence they are only repairing the existing wall/fence.  So, in him targeting the DEMS as you pointed out, he may just be playing the usual blame game.  He knows that the bill that he signed stipulated that no funding would be allocated in the future for a wall and he also knows that will sink his chances in 2020 and sink the GOP in 2018; so ... blame the DEMS and hopefully get the votes.  Ryan also is catching heat for funding for the wall in the budget, and I suspect that he'll play the blame game as well.  After all, playing the blame game and accomplishing nothing is what Congress does best.

Stop all essential services, but keep the non-essential services going.   It never hurts government workers, just the private sector ones.

IF Trump truly thinks he's going to get funding for additional wall, he's dreaming.  Ryan is opening his yap; lying saying that it's already been partially funded and needs more time to implement the plan?  Really? The Secure Fence Act was passed in 2006. Where's the dang fence?? Bits and pieces already need to be repaired.  How much time and planning does it take?  Eleven years isn't enough time?  Just like repealing healthcare; it's not going to happen.  This Congress will ensure that they sink Trump's ship and they don't care if they go down with the sinking ship.  The uni-party strikes again!

I remember reading a govt brief that stated the more than half of Federal employees could be removed to employment,m and no one would ever notice.
More than half of Federal employees are bureaucratic overkill, support for bureaucracy. That was before the Marxist hired 10s of thousands of little commies to support the Dim party, like the scum working for the IRS.

All this talk about funding the wall is political double speak. There is always plenty of money available if one wants to allocate funds to a project. The politicians are using it for their own political desires.

Yeah, literally pure bull shit, they just raise the debt ceiling when they want more money and run up trillions more in debt, never once balancing the budget.
This is what bugs the shit out of me, they think we're actually that damned stupid, that we're going to believe 'there isn't enough money' while they give anyone that wants it, food subsidies, regardless of income, just ring up the Fed printing presses. What's truly sad is? They don't even print the money, just devalue the dollar we hold and double the money supply.

I can't wait for the 2018 Purge!!!

Trump is learning. He is learning he can beat these slimy Bassturds over the head with the hammer of "Govt Shutdown" which sends the left and of course the RINO's into a frenzy of panic. Who suffers the most from a Govt Shutdown?   Thats right 'THE GOVERNMENT'

During the last few shutdowns how did that impact any of you living in Anywhere USA?  Thats right Zero. Yet the inner city sanctuary cities will go into a panic. Most of us would love to have the Govt Shutdown so they don't bother us with their stupid boobaucracy.

I posted this article and asked why Trump only singled out Dims only, and obviously I'm not the only one, Gohmert is pissed and ready to fight the establishment.

Gohmert: Some GOP Leaders, Like Democrats, Obstructing Funding of Border Wall

House Representative Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), an Army veteran and former chief justice of the 12th Court of Appeals, said "some of the Republican leaders" in Congress are allies with obstructionist Democrats who do not want the U.S.-Mexico border wall funded, and they are trying to stop President Donald Trump because they fear if he gets the economy growing "like Reagan did," he will be "unstoppable."

Gohmert discussed the $1.6 billion the House already approved as the first step in building the border wall and Gohmert noted the resistance in the Senate.

Referencing Trump's Aug. 22 speech in Phoeniz, Ariz., Gohmert said, "I had a problem with one thing in the Trump speech, and that was when he said, 'Now, the obstructionist Democrats would like us not to do it,' build that wall.' And I'm going, 'What about some of the Republican leaders that are right there with the obstructionist Democrats?' [Trump] was being so nice, I thought, last night."

Gohmert added that the Republicans in Congress have "problems," and said, "I'm so fed up with this."

"I think that some of us may just have to say, 'We're going to vote against every rule until you agree to have money in there to build the wall,'" said Gohmert, in reference to the GOP obstruction. "And, of course, that kind of position gets the Republican leadership upset. But I'm sick of this."

"This is ridiculous," he said. "The wall was one of the things that got President Trump elected, and I'm very grateful that he hasn't walked away from that."

The Texas congressman went on to talk about how some Republicans in Congress do not want President Trump to succeed.

"There are people in our party that want to stop [Trump]," he said. "But I think there may be some concern by Establishment Republicans — 'Oh my gosh, if he gets the economy going like Reagan did ... then he'll be unstoppable.'"
