The Social Security Administration should not be in the gun debate. No true proponent of the second amendment wants anyone with mental issues to have access to fire arms but you can't paint with a broad brush. Each case needs to be looked at individually.
The brutal reality is gun laws aren't very effective because criminals don't obey the law. Ban AR 15's and the only people who have them are the bad guys.

The question always becomes, to me anyway, who is going to make the determination that someone is "mentally ill" and what exactly does that mean? Let the government make that determination through some mental health "expert"? No thanks. So I'm too old to manage my financial affairs and that means I am not allowed to defend myself from a thug breaking into my home now?

Certainly not people who know you, not judged by "Your Peers", but rather hand-picked govt appointees willing to do the bidding of the left.
Think IRS, EPA, Etc.None of these agencies work on your behalf, they are agents of the govt, they do the bidding of those in charge.

Note also democrats are ranting about people on the terrorist watch list not being able to buy guns. Sounds good, right? But then one has to asked who in government puts folks on the list. It is just another tool and vehicle to remove guns from law abiding citizens. The answer is unnamed bureaucrats place names on the list and we know how corrupt they can be.

Do you suppose anti-fas are put on the list? I rather doubt it, even though they have blatantly demonstrated how violent they are.
