SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Gov. Gavin Newsom used a new law for the first time Friday to try to force a wealthy Southern California coastal city to end its years of opposition to meeting low-income housing goals.

Newsom's administration sued the Orange County city of Huntington Beach under the law that took effect Jan. 1 after passing in a 2017 package of measures intended to alleviate the state's severe housing shortage and homelessness problem.

There is a reason cities reject low income housing. It creates ghettos. I know that sounds awful but it is true. Crime rates rise and property values plummet.

Newsome should instead focus on why there are so many homeless people in California.

This is exactly how the left destroyed California in the first place. via LBJ and his 235 govt housing, they forced contractors to build and house Chicago residents they kicked out of govt ghetto housing.
They moved them all out to Ca to kill the culture.
The left is evil, none of this has a thing to do with helping people, never has, never will, it is by design, to kill off prosperity.
Notice how this isn't happening in Fuglosi's district of say, Napa?

Back in the 70's 135 housing was introduced. (I believe that is the proper number) It was affordable housing that was subsidized if I recall. Working for a major insurance company we had an internal debate as to whether insure these homes are not as many of them were not maintained by the owners. The final decision was to insure them as "red lining" was a hot topic at the time. There were also questions about the construction quality as well.

It started under LBJ, where any new construction had to make every 3rd house built, a 235, or a percentage of the over all amount of homes being built.
This program totally destroyed Sacramento neighborhoods by importing in crime straight out of Chicago.
You probably remember it from 1970 because, once again, the govt stepped in because no one wanted to insure them because of the people residing in them..

Yeah, 235 homes. You are correct it took a few years for folks to start recognizing it was another government program that went into a ditch.

Yep, and sadly, most of them wound up rentals in really nice neighborhoods, and we all know what rentals mean.
