Wow! Who can remember when another government official questioned a contractors pricing? I heard Trump comment on this and he said something about Boeing trying "to do a number" on the government. How refreshing.

I would need to understand the project and what's involved to be able to assess that.  If he has all the information and made the comment, then great.  What is the $4B for?  What are we getting?  What's the time line, etc., etc.?  Being Air Force One, I'm sure there's classified security reasons why we'll never know I'd think.

While there are too many unknowns for me, I like the conservative attitude on government spending.  The message is strong, and he's getting people's attention.  Conversely, you can't have Al Gore, the Marxist scam artist, stroll into Trump Tower and at the same time, preach fiscal sanity.

Then again Trump probably has no plans to bring Gore on board for anything, But later he can say: "Well I tried to work with you Dims, but no one would join my administration".

Billy's bayonet

Good for Trump....Boeing back Hillary with big time money, here may be why. Boeing got approval to sell Iran
"Commercial" airliners. It sounds like it wasn't a done deal but Hillary no doubt would have supported it. Now it's all ruined.

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-iran-aviation-usa-idUSKBN13H1W0

The deals by Airbus and Boeing to sell or lease over 200 jets to Iran Air would help modernize and expand the country's elderly fleet, held together by smuggled or improvised parts after years of sanctions. Iranian officials have voiced growing concerns about what they see as unfair delays in obtaining U.S. licenses, or clarity over banking and financing rules.

Sanctions experts said Treasury licenses allowing such aircraft sales, and easing the way for other commerce with Iran, could easily be reversed by Trump if he chose to do so.

It is not uncommon for the incoming administration to hammer their political rival's supporters, well I remember how Bill Clinton hammered the tobacco industry, one of the GOP's biggest cash cows. Lotta people in Virginia and N.C. lost their jobs over that one.

We know nothing about what instigated the visit from "convenient lies" Gore, other than he was meting with Trump's wife. Who instigated the meeting? What was it about?  We don't know. Reports indicate Gore's body language on leaving indicates he did not like the outcomes of the meeting - which could well mean we WOULD like the outcome of the meeting, if we knew what it was.

Meanwhile, Trump is showing significantly more conservative traits than otherwise since PA was called in his favor early in the morning on Nov. 9th. And calling Boeing on their contract is one more. Yes, there are a lot of unknowns with the contract to build Air Force One. I do know they install missile defense systems as good or better than our bombers carry, along with better radar systems, better engines, modified control surfaces, and added layers of redundancy than a typical passenger jet of the same model. Plus, of course, the interior is completely customized. But $4 billion? That's a hell of a lot of cabbage for a plane. The B2 stealth bomber comes in well below price tag, even adjusting for inflation (2.8 Billion, adjusted). Another factoid we know is that government contracts are almost invariably very comfortably padded. Trump's questioning the total bill is a very good thing, no matter who visited him (or his wife) in recent days.

Let's keep in mind this is for two 747's.

Still, $2B each for modified 747s, which is a proven, tested, and dependable air frame; compared to $2.8B for a fully equipped B2 Stealth Bomber - a per-plane price tag which includes the original costs of development and testing? Sounds like a lot of padding to me - and I ain't talking about the type of cushions in the seats.

Does Trump understand that Air force one is not like any other aircraft? It's a plane designed to allow the president to do his job after a nuclear attack. An airborne white house. That can't be cheap.

It'll be cheap-per... now.  When Boeing submits a new bid.

Trump's bought a few jets already, for his corporation.  He would've read the specs.

The 'nuke attack' thing is kind of a straw man.  The Enola Gay survived a 'nuke' in 1945.  -Fly higher and longer.  Boeing's going to have problems justifying nonsensical cost-overruns.  AFO will have 'state of the art' tech and a hospital ER aboard.  -Which the current AFO already has.  There's no rush.  Trump probably had the Secretary Of The Air Force on the phone by now...  " Slash the price, or it goes nowhere. "  Boom.
