Commerce dropped the ball in the way they requested the idea of placing the question back in the census. Basically, they tried to rebuild the clock rather than just saying what time it was.

Whatever the result of this is, I'm writting "American Citizen by birth' on my census form, I urge everyone else to do the same.

Maybe they are printing everything BUT the page that has the citizenship question....to be inserted at a later date if cleared.

No. I've read the court transcript - the Government DOJ Attorneys confirmed that Trump tweet was a complete surprise for them (Idiots!), and contradicted their statements to the Court. They are meeting on Friday at 2 pm again.

"The Supreme Court vacated the March decision which was the basis for the inclusion of the citizenship question. So that final-agency action has been enjoined, and there is no current additional final-agency action out there to enjoin or to even challenge. I recognize this is a fluid situation and perhaps that might change, but we're just not there yet, and I can't possibly predict at this juncture what exactly is going to happen. To me, the most interesting twist in all of this (on top of the weird SC decision) is the first public confrontation between Trump and Barr. I am sure they will be able to resolve it amicably, though.

No link. DOJ said they are not fighting the Supreme Court and Trump said they do. There's a chance that Barr didn't know, but he doesn't look good if that what's happened. Maybe "confrontation" is a wrong word; probably "misunderstanding" describes it better. Especially because DOJ immediately accepted Trump's order to fight it after his tweet.

Ahh, I see.

Why doesn't President Trump simply go back to using the form as it was the last time the citizenship question was asked. If the USSC objects, simply inform them that this census form has been approved and used ALREADY, and the USSC according to the Constitution has NOTHING to do with the taking of the census anyway.
