QuoteWell apparently those Tweets did nothing to scare caucus members – in fact they may have had exactly the opposite effect, as noted by the great responses from today and earlier in the week mentioned in a Roll Call story from earlier today:

Rep. Trent Franks (AZ): "If somebody can get to the right of me in the primary, God bless him."

Caucus chairman Rep. Mark Meadows (NC): "I don't know of too many people who can challenge me from the right."

Rep. Scott DesJarlais (TN): "In my district, we're very conservative, so if he gets me out office, he's going to get someone more conservative than me."

Virginia Rep. Dave Brat offered his own theory as to what may have led to the President's posts.

"Whoever is in the President's ear isn't giving him the full story on what we're trying to achieve," Brat said.

Franks also seemed to point a finger at establishment Republicans in what may have been a veiled reference to Speaker Paul Ryan.

"I think Congress failed the President rather than the other way around, and I can understand his frustration."

For his part, Ryan apparently also understands but stopped well short of defending the Freedom Caucus.

I love the Trump rallies and Breitbart who boo'd (rightfully) Paul Ryan at every turn, yet Trump wants to get them on board to support Ryan's plan?

This whole thing is just odd.

Trumpsters are eerily quiet, but those that are commenting are livid, screaming that they were lied to, embarrassed because so many people had warned them that he was a lib and they defended him.
I kind of feel sorry for them, they invested all this 'Emotion' into his getting elected, and then this happens, some seem to be on the verge of a breakdown.

I have a close Trumper friend and he's pissed in a major way.  He kept saying "Trump said during the campaign....." and I had to remind him how we had to navigate all that.  He hates Paul Ryan and when I framed it that Trump is aligning with Ryan and attacking those who want to repeal, he about melted down.

I felt like poking the ol stick into the wound, but I don't think they need my help going over the edge. I don't want to be responsible for a Trumper going Postal.
Trump has tomorrow to repair this bull shit, or he can kiss a majority of his base support goodbye. Monday will be too late, too many getting together overt a Spring BBQ, discussing of all things, how Trump screwed them.

Not against conservatives either.  Against extreme neo-reactionary republicans.

Okay, Bright Eyes. Trot out your definition of what you just drooled.

That's a good point... like election seasons over Thanksgiving.  Needless to say it will be interesting.

Or Cinco De Mayo, when they get drunk and question his commitment to the wall.
Remember how vocal this group was during the campaign? No doubt they'll let him know just how angry they are as soon as Soros starts funding rabble rousers across the country.
I think we can count on that like the sun coming up in the morning....

This disagreement between Trump and the Freedom Caucus will be short lived. Trump will figure out he needs them.

I can't believe someone didn't tell him, the FC and TEA are one in the same as his entire base, they're all connected ideologically.
We aren't like a group of libs, from gay to Feminazi and Muscum, all of which despise one another.
No, we all agree on the basics, that it's for the good of the nation.
Someone better straighten his ass out fast or it's the beginning of his end.

I had a thought. What if Trump told the Freedom Caucus he was going to throw them under the bus in order to gain steps toward working with some Dims on some topics - to get that voting block to break up a little. It's a total conspiracy theory, but it's an interesting one. No - I have no evidence of it. Just wishing.

Is there any hope that some of the Dims will peal off of the party line if Trump shows them a path to participating and not wasting their sorry Dim careers losing again and again? If that happened, it would be a major win - and get our government spending their time on productive things rather than revisiting what happened in the last election - again and again (and again).

You aren't alone, his entire base is hoping there's a valid explanation for the nonsense, though I fear there is not because trump has always been a Dim.

This strategy will not work for Trump. I live n Mark Meadows' district. His response was he can't find someone to the right of him. He knows the makeup of his district.
