Ok....so it looks like he just shot himself in the foot and also shattered hopes of retaining our majority in 2018.  :cursing: :cursing:

Trump budges on border wall funding, easing shutdown standoff

"........Trump told a group of 20 conservative media reporters Monday evening that he would be willing to return to the wall funding issue in September, two people in the meeting said. His earlier demand that it be included represented a significant impasse in budget talks, and the latest comments potentially could pave the way for a bipartisan deal just days ahead of the government shutdown deadline.

White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway confirmed to "Fox & Friends" Tuesday morning that the wall does not need to be funded this week, but she said it remains a "very important priority to [Trump]."

"Building that wall and having it funded remains an important priority to him, but we also know that that can happen later this year and into this year," she said.........

In the wake of Trump's border wall comments, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., welcomed the approach. "It's good for the country that President Trump is taking the wall off the table in these negotiations," Schumer said late Monday. "Now the bipartisan and bicameral negotiators can continue working on the outstanding issues."

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., also praised Trump's announcement, calling it "welcomed news given the bipartisan opposition to the wall.".............

Trump needs to start delivering now rather than later. To submit to the DEMS now only gives them leverage in the future.  I'm sorry but, if Trump was such a great negotiator he wouldn't have backed down on Bammycare as well.  Obviously time will tell, but so far, he's sinking his own ship by softening on the very issues that got him elected and it will negatively affect the GOP in the 2018 mid terms.  We certainly cannot afford to lose the Senate, especially since the the nuclear option was needed to get Gorsuch in.  Trump is playing right into the DEMS hands...why?

When will people learn Trump is only the President.  He is not Congress that makes laws or control all the money.

How did Trump back down on Obamacare? It was Paul Ryan's decision to pull the bill because he tried to rush the bill through congress and the Freedom Caucus called him on it. All reports indicate that Trump/Pence have been quite active in trying to put together a bill that can pass both houses of congress. Latest polls indicate the Trump base is sticking with him. I agree the mid terms could be a problem in the House for 2018, but only because they can't get their act together.

Luckily for myself, I never expected anything from the guy, so what we did get was great, and what we didn't get came as no surprise, so no real let down.

Yes, I know that Congress holds the purse strings ... that doesn't mean Trump has to cave. Why isn't he working with his party to get this 'deal' done? So ... you don't see any harm in waiting till the next budget round or you don't see anything wrong with giving in to the DEMS?

Trump proclaimed Ryan's bill as one that should be passed even though it did not REPEAL Bammycare like Trump promised.

The ONLY thing that I was expecting from Trump was a conservative justice.  I was hoping for the wall, a halt on Muslim migration and repeal of Bammycare.  Unless he delivers; it's going to cost the GOP bigly!

Nah, it'll cost the Establishment. Both party's are already in the hole as far as approval ratings go, with the Dims at 36% and the GOP at 42%, it's pretty hard to find a single person that believes anyone in either party is worth a shit.
Yes, the truth in these numbers reflects that more than half the nation despises either party, so no, it won't be a party issue, rather a targeted candidate issue.

Oh, and based on voter turnout, I think both figures are overstated by more than 10% each, should be Dims 26% and GOP 32% and even then, that's being generous.
