I'm mixed on all of this. First off I want us out of the middle east. "Experts" have been designing strategies for decades and all we have accomplished is to turn the area into Detroit with camels. There is no end game. Is this constitutional? I think the president can do this up to a point and then has to get congressional approval. I may be wrong.

I know what you mean...
I believe there is more to this than meets the eye. This was also a message for Putin, "Don't Fuck With Us!"
Putin is the guy pulling Syrian, and Iranian strings, I have faith that Mattis knows quite well what they're doing, so I'll hold off to see how this plays out.

That's the other bit. I think Putin has not been able to suss out how to handle Trump. The democrats and the media have not helped by branding Trump a Putin sycophant. Putin has been expanding his influence and Trump has to a point allowed that to happen. Is that because Trump is afraid of Putin or because he is not an interventionist?
This strike should send a message to Putin that the days of Obama and leading from behind are over.  I'm hoping Putin will take the role of the US in the middle east. Let Russia drain it's own resources.

I don't like it......BUT....I see little choice. Trump was handed a bad situation that was bound to get worse. The bad guy here is once again IRAN....that 150 Billion Hussein gave Iran went right into Putin's Pocket in the form of weapons. Not to hard to imagine some of them found their way into Syria and will end up being aimed at Israel.

The only good part about this is no doubt a few Iranian "advisors" went up in smoke in this strike.

I think that's pretty damn close, I'll expand.
I believe Trump sees the big picture, where he can actually achieve peace in the M/E piece. at least contain it as opposed to previous administrations setting fires as a way of containing it.
I think Putin thinks the old rules apply and expected different results when he played Assad, he never expected Trump to follow through on his threats, he did warn him it could be very very soon, or not soon at all, so get your shit together and GTFO.
Q even mentioned, "Intel good", meaning that Syria was evacuating suspected bases before they were hit.

Following it as close as I do, I'm basing it on what little we all have available, but Trump swatted a Putin pest away from the picnic, it really does appear that way after watching how Trump has allied Saudia Arabia, Jordan, Israel, this was an amazing feat, and all in his first year.
Putin sees his stranglehold disappearing, he had hoped to get Trump to play by the old rules, like the previous Marxist drawing a line in the sand and nothing would change.
Putin would still have Iran and Syria as part of his OPEC to keep his Ruble alive, and Trump came along and completely screwed up decades of planning in one year.

I'll wait to hold off judgment, Trump has proven to be a negotiating genius. Unless a new player enters the game, Trump will go down as the master manipulator who brought peace to the M/E and the world.
I know this may sound like a stretch, but by God, he has the left in a panic because he is ruining any chances of a Marxist takeover on a global scale.

This isn't optimism talking, this is just putting the puzzle pieces together.

Perspective from a trump tweet, this explains a longterm key to world peace. Someone has to hold all the cards, and better us than China.

So proud of our great Military which will soon be, after the spending of billions of fully approved dollars, the finest that our Country has ever had. There won’t be anything, or anyone, even close!

Well, now that the facts (mebe) are out, I'm cool with the Syria Strike.

France and the UK helped.

Assad himself, his Command & Control, his Army, his Airfields were NOT targeted.

What were targeted were numerous Chemical Weapon Laboratories and Storage Facilities.

You know, the ones Barry Soetoro and John Kerry assured us did not exist - that were destroyed years ago as a result of the Obama Administration's diplomatic skills.

I will guess that many of these were formerly part of Saddam's known arsenal.

Well Done Mr President !

Another huge WIN here is that our Intelligence (apparently) was able to pinpoint Chemical Laboratories and Storage accurately.

This will send a message to Iran and NK that their facilities are known to us as well.

Oh, but NK and Iran have huge Underground Arsenals !

Bomb the doors and those make fine TOMBS.

Iran and NK are mere puppets in the game. The message sent, was to China and Putin.
Yeah, I agree, it looks like a solid win for Trump in spite of the leftist media spin.

Putin has a third world economy and even though he has nukes and some very sophisticated weapons, he knows that Russia is no match for either the economic or military mussel of the United States.  This clever former KGB Colonel wishes to restore the former empire of the former Soviet Union.  If he is able to normalize the use of internationally banned CBW agents, he gains an advantage in terms of asymmetrical conventional threat (just like Russia's puppets of Iran and N. Korea).

As much as we would rather just not play Putin and China's game, we're the only Superpower and that makes us a Player, whether we like it or not.  Obama tried to take us out of this new Cold War conflict by intentionally reducing our standing as the world's only Superpower.  This is short sighted and stupid!  There will always be ambitious ("evil") people who will take advantage of any perception of weakness.  (the same as there will always be playground bullies!)

Boo, on the mark.
Recall the ancient adage that tells us "the Enemy of my Enemy is my Friend!"
Despite his warts, Saddam Hussein was the mortal enemy of the Ayatollahs
of Iran, having engaged them is a decade long war, the former virtually won.
Then Bush the Buffoon became our bus driver; remaining oblivious to anything
resembling a powerful idea.
Perhaps Trump, w/the guidance of Bolton and Pompeo, can thread the Mid-East
needle, allowing us to avoid this cauldron of religious/sectarian hatred.
Sadly, we are toddlers w/o experience in this part of the world.
Yet the French could be of great help having controlled the Levant
(Lebanon and Syria) for more than a century till 1930.
Lets see where this goes; our watchword being caution!

That's the thing, Trump is 180 deg. from the former  Establishment hacks thinking they can conquer ideology with force, where Trump sees unification with allies in the M/E as the key to peace.

Soooo, what happened to Putin's threat to retaliate and bomb our launch sites?

Moscow will shoot down any U.S. missiles fired at Syria and retaliate against American launch sites, the Russian ambassador to Lebanon has warned.

Ambassador Alexander Zasypkin made the comments on Tuesday while speaking on the Hezbollah-affiliated al-Manar TV channel, Reuters reported.

President Donald Trump is currently considering military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad following Saturday’s suspected chemical attack on the rebel-held town of Douma near the capital city of Damascus. Medical relief groups say the attack killed dozens of civilians.

Russia is Assad’s most powerful ally and has been supporting him in the Syrian civil war since September 2015.

Trump handled this situation like a true American leader should...Putin just got his backside handed to him.
I especially liked VP Mike Pence's statement on TV about our actions, and his view of Russia and their standing among the nations of the world.
He was 100% correct.
