Trump can be using this to trim some fat, which would be amazing.  The article references a Daily Caller article from an source in the administration. In a nutshell, this source confirms that a lot is getting done during the shutdown because most of those who work to stop the President's agenda are not present.  From the source in the DC article:

Back in the 90's when Billy Boy Clinton was the Prez he came up with a scheme to "reduce" the Federal Govt (including the Military) that the GOP controlled congress fell for lock stock and barrel.

Clinton offered "early outs" retirement to those "Vested" in Govt and the Military with RIF (reduction in Force) I knew a number of Govt types and even more Military types that took the offer. Most of these were GS-15 and above and most of the Military were the Officer Corps, rank of Captain and below. A lot of Senior NCO's took the money and ran too, going out into the civilian work force.

This little plot allowed Billy Boy to recruit a whole new batch of Baby Bolsheviks to infiltrate all forms of Govt and replace the "old Guard" with young up and comers which now functions as the "deep state".  It was during this time a lot of Military bases were closed too.

Trump may indeed be using this strategy i reverse as a way to get rid of the Deep state, that is to Furlough the SOB's..... if the Govt is shut down, a lot of the deep state is shut down too.

It's about time someone found a backdoor for dumping the waste.

You are Right, I read this the same way. The left is literally holding the door open for Trump while he throws out the trash.
I had hoped that he would initiate a National Security Order and build the wall last Friday, but after reading that yesterday, I realized the longer the left keeps the govt shutdown, he gets 10 times the stuff accomplished.
