Trump's Liberal Side Showing
« on: March 09, 2017, 09:23:33 AM »
This is the very reason I have never supported Trump, I knew this side would eventually show it's ugly self and the RINO are loving it.
Let's be honest, if the country thought it was profitable, we'd already have one, it's not, and we don't.
It's that damned simple.

Trump Signals Interest In High-Speed Rail

President Donald Trump pushed his White House team on Wednesday to craft a plan for $1 trillion in infrastructure spending that would pressure states to streamline local permitting, favor renovation of existing roads and highways over new construction and prioritize projects that can quickly begin construction.

Mr. Trump said he would was inclined to give states 90 days to start projects, and asked Scott Pruitt, the new head of the Environmental Protection Agency, to provide a recommendation. He expressed interest in building new high-speed railroads, inquired about the possibility of auctioning the broadcast spectrum to wireless carriers, and asked for more details about the Hyperloop, a project envisioned by Tesla founder Elon Musk that would rapidly transport passengers in pods through low-pressure tubes.

“America has always been a nation of great promise, because we dream big,” Mr. Trump said. “We’re going to really dream big now.”

Ditto - it's like looking at a snow-pack, sure looks pretty, sun reflecting... but, you know it's gonna melt, and then the damaging floods are gonna hit.

I voted FOR him, to vote AGAINST Hillary.   Support him only when he pretends to be a Conservative.

You know, I really hate it when reports like this makes statements about what was said, without bringing forth any type of quote from which the description was derived. When using vague descriptions of what was said journalists (and I use the term loosely) are able to imply any damned thing they want. And frankly there are many conservative outlets who are every bit as guilty of this practice as the MSM.

So here we have what is basically a description of Trump tossing out ideas for infrastructure, and possibly (though without an actual quote, who knows?) mentioned he likes the idea of high speed rail - along with a whole host of other ideas. So what? Leaders, be they private or political, toss around ideas all the time, the vast majority of which get tossed aside with little more needed than "Umm, Donny, old boy, a high speed rail system would eat up your trillion bucks and not even get halfway across the country."

I am as suspicious of Trump as anyone. His current support of O-Care II has me steaming big time. But I am not going to pop a blood vessel because he is reported to have spitballed a bunch of possible ideas with little or no additional context behind them. IF he actually starts trying to push plans for high speed rail or underground vacuum tubes running supersonic taxi pods, THEN we can write him and our congress critters to let them know the federal government has no business in such endeavors.

For me, it's the fact that any ideas outside of infrastructure repair are even being broached, we just don't have the money despite having a seemingly endless amount of paper and ink with which to print it.
I have a feeling Trump will want one grandiose project that he can point out as his one signature achievement to his legacy, be it FDR's social experiment or the Marxists Commiecare, Trump seems to be focusing on some grand social project to rival China's Great Wall.

Note, Trump plasters his name on everything, and they're usually the grandest of all, be it resorts, golf courses or hotels, they always rival or dwarf those around them.

If President Trump can make money off of it he'll push for it.  I have no doubt that he and is cronies have stock or interests in companies that will be needed to improve and rebuild our infrastructure.  It will no doubt benefit America and make America greater again , but as I have always stated; it will also make Trump's wallet even greater.  I have never had any doubt that he will get the economy going again and curtail illegal immigration ... we just might not like how he gets us there.

I just wish they would put a passenger line back through southern Montana. To this day I cannot comprehend why they took out the North Coast Hiawatha line, which used to go through Billings, Bozeman, Butte and Missoula (1st, 4th, 5th and 3rd largest towns in Montana), not to mention Livingston which is just 50 miles north of Yellowstone's main entrance, but they kept the Empire Builder which only goes through Great Falls and Kalispell, (the 2nd and 7th largest towns), plus Glacier Park.

I used to love riding the train.

I'm fine with it...as long as we don't have to pay for it.

I did not think the train went through Glacier Park.  But through East Glacier and West Glacier and all along the side of the park following the river.  Pinnacle / Essex Montana .   I lived in West Glacier for 2 years.   My Grandparents  lived in Pinnacle.

Well, there is a section of the rail - as well as Highway 2 - that actually runs just inside the park paralleling the Flathead River between Essex and East Glacier.  But stopping at the main entrances to the park is what I meant by "Glacier Park."

I lived in West Glacier for the first 13 years of my life.  IMHO, the best possible place for a kid to grow up.
