Title: Trump's attorney general recuses himself from any campaign probes
Post by: Ms.Independence on March 02, 2017, 01:54:47 PM
I find this deeply troubling ... the DEMS are peeling apart Trump's cabinet choices, one by one ...does anyone know if all of his cabinet appointments have been voted on yet?  Anyone know if Gorsuch has been voted on?

Trump's attorney general recuses himself from any campaign probes

WASHINGTON - U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said on Thursday he would recuse himself from any investigations into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election because he was involved with President Donald Trump's campaign.

But Sessions, who was a long-time U.S. senator before becoming the country's top law enforcement official, said he did nothing wrong when he did not disclose during Senate testimony that he had met last year with Russia's ambassador. He said the meetings were in his capacity as senator, not as a campaign aide.

"I have recused myself in the matters that deal with the Trump campaign," Sessions told reporters at a hastily arranged news conference after several of his fellow Republicans in Congress called for him to recuse himself and Democrats urged him to resign.

Sessions said he had been weighing recusal - ruling himself out from any role in the investigations - even before the latest twist of the controversy over ties between Trump associates and Russia that has dogged the early days of his presidency.

U.S. intelligence agencies concluded last year that Russia hacked and leaked Democratic emails during the election campaign as part of an effort to tilt the vote in Trump's favor. The Kremlin has denied the allegations...

To date there has been no wrong doings.  All the Dem have is Trump and the Russian.  So they will play it for all they can.    Remember what b o said before his last 4 years in off to the Russian.   Obama tells Russia he'll be more flexible after election.

I listened to Session speech this afternoon and I got a few things from it.

One..... Sessions did no wrong

Session strikes me as a fairly honest guy trying to do a difficult job.....Recusal is the right thing to do and he says he will contact the ethics committee every step of the way should new "concerns" arise. Can;t ask for more than that

It seems the Russian Ambassador came to him and started talking about Ukraine, Sessions was clever enough to see thru that trap and kept things general and abiguous.

The Dems are grasping at straws and in a panic mode after the success of Trumps congressional address, they have nothing left to throw so they are pumping up the inflatible "RUssians hack the election and Trump was involved thats why Hillary lost" monster that doesn;t scare anybody anymore.

Much ado about nothing.

Much ado about nothing perhaps; but it is becoming even more apparent that the left is going to try to disassemble his cabinet one by one and make it next to impossible to drain the swamp.

The left is waging a war that we have to win.

They're waging a war they already lost.

First, senate hearings have not even begun on Gorsuch. Supposed to be this month.

As for Sessions, this is really a non story unless the GOP makes it one. There is not even an investigation for Sessions to recuse himself from. Trump and Sessions need to put their team together in the DOJ and Sessions should go about finding Obama plants in the DOJ and either fire them or place them in an irrelevant position.

I agree he did nothing wrong, he did not lie or mislead. The question was "anyone affiliated with the campaign" He wasn't, he had nothing to do with the campaign.
He has now made himself part of the BS. In the future they will be whining he recused himself because he is hiding something.

He should have never done that.  he caved. Loretta Lynch never recused herself after meeting with the husband of someone under investigation.  A meeting by the way that she didn't think was going to be found out.

Sessions showed that the RINOs are still calling the shots.

I'm keeping faith that President Trump is laying traps and these guys are walking into traps.  It seems like every time they open their mouth, the blowback is much greater.

It's pretty obvious what's going on at this point.  I expect Hussein to be in handcuffs in the not to distant future.

Well, Trump's motto has always been to punch back harder and being the president he can be a sledgehammer. I hope he does.

That may be the strategy here, these people will "out" themselves. Whomever released the info re sessions on a federal FISA Wiretap committed a serious crime. THERE IS A RECORD OF IT, there is a paper trail and who ever got that warrant or series of warrants is on file. It should be real easy to figure out.

However, you want to let your enemy commit himself, there will no doubt be other attempts at discredit, wait until they come out, and when you punch back you are punching back with the full force of the law
