The Senate Judiciary Committee approved Sessions' nomination along party lines, 11-9, sending it to the full Senate for confirmation. Sessions is expected to easily win approval by the GOP-controlled chamber.

This is nothing to be happy about. Surely we can find a conservative to run the Justice Department who does not support Civil Asset Forfeiture. If you do not know what this is, please look it up.

Sessions is a long time RINO, and this is the least of reasons to seat him, I could come up with a lot worse.
But if he can shakedown leftists and seize their stolen property?

DeVos was approved, with Vice President Mike Pence giving the first-ever Senate vote to break a tie on a cabinet vote.

She'll be sabotaged without let-up by the DoEd bureaucrats. Expect her to APPEAR to fail, once the teachers unions apply pressure on their favorite lamestream reporters.

Based on what I have observed so far Trump will have her back if the MSM comes after her. He seems to thrive on any opportunity to take it to them. That being said, she does need to watch her back internally. This does not just apply to the Department of Education.

Someone opined that Trump got a six-second honeymoon. All his picks are coming in with full knowledge there will be land mines ahead, particularly when federal downsizing begins. That's the true battle: putting Uncle Sugar on a diet.

Our schools are so top heavy with administrators that there are more office workers then teachers in the classrooms. A lot of this is brought on by the federal government requiring reports on everything you can imagine! By streamlining overhead cost the schools could operate more efficiently. It is crazy that this country pays so much per student and gets so little out of our investment.
When a Business streamlines to operate more efficiently the first thing they look at cutting is non essential overhead employees. Perhaps our government schools could lean something from some of the charter schools. Put the money into the classrooms.
I think you will see Trump all over this!

Krauthammer: Good for GOP if Warren leads Democratic Party

Sen. Jeff Sessions won confirmation Wednesday evening to become the next attorney general of the United States, capping a Senate fight so contentious that one of the nominee's biggest critics was forced by majority Republicans to sit out the last leg of the debate.

The Senate narrowly approved the Alabama Republican's nomination on a 52-47 vote, the latest in a series of confirmation votes that have been dragged out amid Democratic protests. One Democrat, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, joined Republicans in voting to confirm Sessions. Sessions himself voted present.

President Trump has accused Democrats of obstructing the confirmation process, though the Senate will turn next to votes on the president's picks to lead the health and treasury departments.

Sessions became just the fifth Cabinet nominee approved by the Senate, joining Trump's choices for Defense, Homeland Security, Education and State.

Wednesday's vote came after a rowdy overnight session during which Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., was formally chastised for allegedly impugning Sessions' integrity on the floor....

All my kids are home schooled.   All are in the top of their classes in college and those who have graduated are top honors students, the rest are on the Dean's list.  Wifey did it for about $700 per year in books - meanwhile, the local school system was "given" $6500 per kid, for not doing anything, other than sending us a stern letter each year about "testing" - which our kids prove each year Home Schooling is superior.

Imagine what we could have done with a $50,000 gift each year.

Don't you just love liberals? To spite DeVos they do what she favors and screws the teachers' unions. The irony is almost too much.

QuoteWASHINGTON — President Donald Trump has chosen as his national security adviser a soldier-scholar who fought in both Iraq wars and published an influential book that called out the U.S. government for "lies" that led to the Vietnam War.

Army Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster would remain on active military duty while leading the National Security Council, White House officials said Monday. He joined two retired generals — Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly — already in Trump's inner circle, adding to the impression that the president prefers military men in top roles.

Farther down, there's more...

QuoteMcMaster said Moscow's broader goal is to "collapse the post-Cold War security, economic and political order in Europe and replace that order with something that is more sympathetic to Russian interests."

In his current role, McMaster has studied the way Russia developed and executed its campaigns in Crimea and Ukraine, where it used what some call "hybrid warfare" — part political, part disinformation, part military.

The National Security Council has not adjusted smoothly to Trump's leadership. The president has suggested he does not trust holdovers from the Obama administration and complained about leaks to reporters. His decision to put his top political adviser on the council's senior committee drew sharp criticism. On Friday, the head of the council's Western Hemisphere division was fired after he criticized Trump's policies and his inner circle of advisers.

Trump said retired Army Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, who had been his acting adviser, would serve as the National Security Council chief of staff. He also said he would be asking John Bolton, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, to work with them in a "somewhat different capacity."

Has anybody seen anything about John Koskinen at IRS being replaced? I tried to find something, but nothing other than info that would lead me to believe he has not left. Which raises the question is the the head of the IRS like the director of the FBI in that they are appointed for a certain length of time outside the political calendar?
