I love watching leftists that are on terrible 2-year losing streak, just act more and more childish / retarded.
The icing on the cake is when they get their little backs up and pretend they're "winning" something.
You do a double take and say "wuuuuuuut the fuk ...... you suck at this too, and you're making zero sense ......"
D.C. Rifle ....... lol.
"Hi, I'm a lifelong conservative from D.C. Who loves rifles"
"I've had to renounce my citizenship and lifetime membership in the NRA ...... cuz Trump"
Dolt.

Headlines may get attention yet clarity and focus wins arguments.
Mid-West dust storms commenced in the 20ties, inviting Government
interference in Agriculture, which accelerated under Hoover w/programs
such as the soil bank, price supports , subsidies and so on. Roosevelt's
cronies happily increased market interference.
As for tariffs, they were the major support for the Federal Government
from Independence to the Depression, aided by the 16th Amend. in1913.
What is the point of this post???
Just this morning I was saying to myself "I hope Philip Wegmann writes a new opinion piece soon".

One wonders if spying on friends, starting trade wars, enacting sanctions, overthrowing governments, bombing enemies, and arming terrorists are good ways to spread peace and freedom to the world.

If you are coming to this forum just to throw bombs -go away. Now expand on your accusations and we can debate.
I just dumped this troll, but before I did, I caught part of his post and thought I'd post it so the rest of you could see stupid in action.
QuoteThe USA benefits if a country dumps products on the US. If a nation sold $50 tires to the US for $40 then the USA wins by getting cheap products.
If another country had a weak currency, couldn't the US buy foreign currencies to weaken the USD?
If a foreign country had a 900% import tax then their prices would be very high.
If China had a 200% import tax and the US had no tariffs, but then the USA raised the import tax, wouldn't China retaliate?
A country would get jobs in the short term by exporting products at a loss, but eventually they would go bankrupt.
You cannot get rich by decree. You cannot set rents at $10 per month, wages at $1000 per hour, and have 200% tariffs with no consequences.
Fundamentally, there are only two ways of coordinating the economic activities of millions. One is central direction involving the use of coercion - the technique of the army and of the modern totalitarian state. The other is voluntary cooperation of individuals - the technique of the marketplace.
This is not the Soviet Union.
If you want more jobs and want to compete on the world market then the USA needs to cut wages and reduce regulations. You can't pay Americans $23 per hour and expect to compete with Chinese workers who will work for $1 per hour.

Did you know that there was a stock market crash in 1929, a trade war and depression in the 1930's, and WWII started in 1939?
Did you know that there was a stock market crash in 2008, a trade war and depression in the 2010's, and WWIII is likely to start by 2025?
Trade wars made the Great Depression worse. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

You know that you live in the Twilight Zone when Americans support tyranny. Are Americans Commies now?
Those who own imported cars, clothes, televisions, phones, and computers sound like hypocrites when they slam free trade. Vote with your feet and don't buy foreign products if you hate free trade.

China is not the only country in the world. The US wouldn't be dependent on China because the USA can make goods or import from other nations.
Americans believe that the reason the US has a trade deficit is because other countries cheat and have high tariffs. Americans don't realize the US benefits by getting low priced imports and could also be a successful exporting country if the USA had lower wages and fewer regulations.
Those who sell more products work harder, work more cheaply, have better quality, or use more technology.
Think.

Wow, this thread really puts the

drive-by media. He jumps in, throws out an unsupported biased opinion, and then disappears, never looking back.
Did it make him feel good or something? Did he learn his lesson? Because it certainly has provided us with our daily dose of humor, as well as another good example of leftist child like behavior. I wld just hate to think he wasn't getting something out of this little exchange as well, just wasting his time.

To infer Trump wants to start a trade war is just partisan crap. Of course he doesn't want a trade war. That would erase all the gains the economy has made. he's playing the long game betting on those countries deciding to come to the table and negotiate. It's a risky gamble and it is true Trump is trying to alleviate a problem he has created but as I said he is betting on those countries involved will balk on a trade war.

What do you mean a problem Trump created? Trump is trying to fix the damage both party's have wrought upon the nation, so he didn't create it, the leftists did.

I was framing it as it is covered by the media.I meant the farmers are having some financial difficulties due to retaliation for his tariffs and he has eased their burden with some financial help. A bit of short term pain for long term prosperity of no or very low tariffs.
The way for us to win a trade war is to take the extra revenue generated by tariffs and use THAT to subsidize the industries targeted by the other countries. Since their tariffs are already high they really are in a bind. It is like a game of chicken between a VW and a semi and were driving the truck!!

Trump is using Canada's subsidization of newsprint to place tariffs on newsprint exports, so that would be hypocritical.
