...and, he doesn't freeze the deal.  While China is throwing a fit, he's moving buyers away from China.  Next thing you know, it will be a year from now and we'll have more stable trading partners.  It will also make us more stable, because even though we'll have some ups and downs while we're excercising the China demon, we shouldn't.  If we're more spread out it's better trading contingency.
And I look forward to getting away from that cheap Chinese shit. Competition is good, it creates a better quality of goods because price is no longer the deciding factor, people got used to buying cheap shit and expecting it to only last for a short time and that's sad.
You'd think libs would be excited that there will be less throw away crap, because people are keeping things longer due to better quality.
Granted, that's not a guarantee, but I do expect to see the quality of products increase by quite a large margin.

Spot on! It's capitalism, there are always losers, but there will be far more winners in the long run.

This is more than anything an end to the Bretton Woods agreement.
For far to long the U.S. subsidized world trade. It worked. We fixed the worlds' economy on the back of the U.S. worker and dollar.
Now it is time to stop it.
The tariffs are twenty years over due. Big corporations and banks will soon realize that the tariffs will also help them.

Agree. When Nixon opened up the Bamboo Curtain and they allowed the world in, it looked like a perfect opportunity to convert communism, and we did what we could to speed up conversion through relaxed trade.
Boy, did that backfire.

QuoteChina has behaved as an enemy to American businesses, enabled by past presidents. They don't deserve to do business with us and I believe President Trump will knock them back down to third-world status.

A reflection.
Bill Bennett, Reagan's Sec'y of Ed. identified the moral
virtue of Honor, as a core value of Greece and Rome.
It forbade cheating, lying and stealing and those
that did were disgraced and ostracized from society.
China has existed w/o Honor in a closed Asian environment
for thousands of years, yet such behavior is unacceptable
among the rest of the world.
As such, their attitude and behavior is the seed of their
self-destruction, a reality to which they are utterly blind.

Ever since Richard Nixon, a staunch anit-communist, "opened China", the bet was and has continued to be that capitalism would do so much for China that they would become westernized and more Democratic and turn away from Communism.  While Democrats in our nation seem to have no problem with China being Communist, the GOP Globalits seem to have turned a blind eye to what China has been doing.  China uses capitalism to strengthen it's Communist Regime, in a similar way that the Islamist use our freedoms to subvert our nation.  In both cases, it is merely a means to an end and they are not about to come around to being more like us.  The goal of the former COMINTERN was at least up front about what they wished to achieve. The Marxist Dream has always been a New World Order under Marxism in every corner of the world.  (The Islamist want a One World Caliphate under Shariah Law.)

It very well may be that the United States and other western democracies would be far better off, pulling out of China and looking elsewhere for emerging markets and cheap labor and consumer products to stock the shelves of places from Harbor Freight to Walmart!  In so many ways, we are looking only at the short term while China and Islam are playing the long game. Very similar problems for our nation's future survival.
The press is our chief ideological weapon.
~ Nikita Khrushchev

Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them.

An observation.
The  driver of China's dishonorable trade behavior isn't Communism.
Culturally they have been ruled by autocratic dynasties since around
2,000 BC which formed their temperament as a nation/state.
This stifled any individualistic impulse which is a core trait necessary
for capitalism to succeed.
They behave as they do because it's ingrained in their culture/society.
Were communism gone from China today, they would continue their
current behavior.
