Anyway, the leftist media said if we had one, the stock mkt would collapse. Oh, and according to Fuglosi, we're in a constitutional crisis.
Umm, stock mkt hasn't shifted yet.

Tariffs will make our Country MUCH STRONGER, not weaker. Just sit back and watch! In the meantime, China should not renegotiate deals with the U.S. at the last minute. This is not the Obama Administration, or the Administration of Sleepy Joe, who let China get away with "murder!"

Many Americans on both side of the political aisle fail to realize that we are engaged in a full fledged new Cold War!   Unlike the first Cold War, Russia has an ally this time. Vladimir Putin and China are causing conflicts for the United States and our allies on every front.  They are using proxy states in Syria, N. Korea and Venezuela and new flash points may spring up at other places all around the globe.  Russia doesn't have the economic clout that China does, so China is using unfair trading practices and sabotage of trade talks to throw a monkey wrench into what Trump has to deal with both domestically and with our allies.

The forensic investigation of the 9/11 attacks connected the dots and saw that America was in a state of denial about the fact that hostile powers had declared war on us.  While China and Russia have not declared war, they are coordinating their hostile attacks;  The China-US Trade War is only one of these fronts!

Expect the media and the rest of the Democrats, along with Wall Street and a gaggle of Republicans to attack the President when he doesn't cave in!  BTW, Wall Street has nearly a trillion dollars invested in China, so many corporation and their investor climed in bed with the Communist Chinese a very long time ago.  It's almost like the Chicoms planned it this way!

A China/Russian alliance is a house of cards at best. It may convenient for both at this point in time, but China will dump Russia in a heartbeat. There has never been any love lost between the two and China will not fall on the sword for Russia. If Trump hods the line on trade, China will act in its own best interest and this alliance could be a memory.

A reflection.
Rather than a quite narrow trade war,  assert this is a very broad character war.
Consider: China was ruled by Autocratic Dynasties from the Chang around 1,500 BC
to the Manchu in 1912. This was followed by several Military Dictators culminating
w/Mao-Zedong and Communist Party Rule in 1949.
During that 3,500 year span, the impulse of creativity and innovation was stifled,
discarded and forgotten with individualism replaced by the cult of the collective.
So is it any wonder that Chinese cheat, lie and steal their way across the world?
We are  born imperfect, yet to improve we must change attitude and behavior.
Assert this is the essence of what Trump is dealing with, hardly tariffs.

Exactly!
China and Russia have always had a love hate relationship, they love communism, and hate America and each other, "My enemy's enemy, is my friend" but these two are not friends.
Russia supplied pilots in the Korean war against the US, china was the power behind NK at the time.
So in truth, this is of no surprise, but this time I doubt it will end in a stalemate, Russia really doesn't like China, but they share a common enemy, the US Oil dollar and it's control over the mkt.
Russia needs China at this point in time, but would turn on one another in a heart beat.
That's what makes this entire event so fascinating, Trump is killing China's already struggling economy as well as crippling Russia's only real income, oil, all the while clamping down on their allies, Cuba and Iran.

Somethings gonna give and it won't be the US, I have total faith in Trump.

I';m not sure we are in a new cold or trade war, I do know that we would not be in any trade or other war if obama or a rino was in the white house, they would have caved in by now, sold us short, signed a treaty , declared how great they were and the American tax payer would be left holding the bag. If we are in any cold or treaty war now, it is because our president has not sold us short and is negotiating the best deal for us. I call that success for us and I call that a cold slap of reality for the rest of the world.

Just a couple years back, as the China economy was in high gear, many investors put their money in that foreign market. That means they took it out of the US market. And for good reason - BO made sure that the US economy was failing with no end in sight.

Investors are usually pretty good at seeing a shift. But they certainly underestimated the Trump effect. Trump is balancing trade to the benefit of the US. The uncertainty in the market is turning into certainty that the US is now a better place to invest. Those dollars invested in China are coming back to work in the US. Those slow to recognize it will take a bath - as they should. We will see (have seen) minor downturns in the market (days, hours), but the positive growth in the US far outstrips the foreign investor's problems.

China will need to act quickly in the negotiations as the US population will adjust and learn to live without Chinese imports. Tick tick.

One area that needs urgent attention is in technical development. Our universities are exporting our ability to create new technology as we give our university educations away to foreign countries. We give it away because foreign students pay their tuition while many US students are subsidized.  Certainly there are trade schools that suffice to replace the snowflake degrees - that are of no real account to our productivity. But we still need to grow / pass along expertise in the hard sciences and grow in those areas which requires motivated US students and universities that pursue them. We also need to encourage professor turn-over and more US professors; tenure does nothing good anymore. I've seen one of the brightest US citizen PhDs I've ever known struggle to find a university position while I've also sat under many professors that lost it a long time ago. The university system is another broken liberal disaster from the student standpoint and professor perspective.

Oh - and making tuition free to all US students will only make it worse; universities will do about anything to gain tuition including giving our knowledge to other countries.

You make a good point about the US population adjusting.

Because of our freedom some enterprising folks will see a market opportunity and "build a better mouse trap". Also, most Chinese companies have probably built in a profit margin where they can adjust prices so as to no lose market share in the US.

China has become an increasingly hostile actor.  They have been using capitalism and trade to fuel their economy, but they are still Godless Commies and trade relations with their foes is only a means to an end.  The end goal of Communists have always been one world communism; just as the end goal of Islamists is achieving a one world Caliphate under Sharia Law.  Tyrants throughout history seek to expand their empires and often buddy up with their rivals against their common foes.

Wally, that was my whole point. Had obama still been in office, he would had caved in and no talk of a new cold war would have taken place. It is only because Trump is holding firm for the U.S. that there is that talk. Just as obama did not see a threat by Islamist, that did not make it go away. I still call what Trump is doing success for the U.S. despite the media's fear of a new cold war. Or to put it another way, had Trump caved in on everything china wants, would the threat from china go away?

I agree.  I don't know that we really know if it was Russia or if it was only Russia that attempted to interfere with our election.  (or if it was Russia or China or some 400 pound guy in his parent's basement, as Trump said).  I think Obama's Team cherry picked what Russia and China and others always do and created the myth of Trump/Russia collusion.  If so, this myth may have begun when they saw that Trump had been planning to build a hotel in Russia and when Paul Manafort was hired, they story began to get legs.  It will be interesting to see what Obama's lawyer, (Greg Craig) prosecution reveals, since he worked with Manafort and Ukraine.  Did Obama's Team send Manafort to be hired by Trump just as Fusion GPS did with the Russian Layer with Don Jr's Trump Tower Meeting?

That's pretty much what Trump has been saying all along. What's more important, caging a lion and suffering a little in the interim, or blindly sailing along until the storm hits and China will hold out the life preserver with conditions attached?
The country would never be allowed to recover under a China controlled economy. China would offer cheap products until they control the mkt, then they'd slowly raise the cost of doing business with China once they have you where they want you.
Personally, I would gladly pay 25% more for a quality made American product, I miss the quality of the 60s.

Donald Trump warns China to reach a trade deal now, or face a 'far worse' one if I get re-elected

US President accuses China of playing for time in the hope he will lose to a 'very weak' Democrat in next year's election
https://www.scmp.com/news/china/diplomacy/article/3009895/donald-trump-warns-china-reach-trade-deal-now-or-face-far

The media and the rest of the Democrats are affecting our national security interests by continuing their hoax and teasing impeachment.  China had agreed to our terms and now have become hopeful that the Democrats may either drive Trump from office or defeat him in 2020 and they can return to business as usual with President Joe Biden.
