I don't know that I have had to sacrifice and buy cheap Chinese shit.
I always look for American made.  Even if I have to go to the next town.  I have had my Craftsman tool for over 55+ years.  It has cost me more money up front but in the long run I come out ahead.

Walks so many today do not know what Craftsman stood for for so many years. I do know Mrs. Sup will not buy anything from China for our doggies.

And that's my point, if American companies start actually returning to the old standard of making the best quality products in the world, will most people buy American?

I believe in buying "value" for our goods and services. I am on my third Toyota Camry and find it an excellent value. Compared to American made cars I found it satisfied my needs especially while working as I use my car for traveling. I do use a local company for cable and internet. I could use AT&T for a little less, but willing to pay more for the local service. All customer service people are local and answer the phone in English I can understand. So to answer your question, I used the free market system and buy the best "value" for us.
Same here, and if Japan is making a better product, then supporting them sends a message to American manufacturers.
I bought a Subaru built in Japan, great vehicle, and I bought it for its quality alone. But again, China isn't making quality, anything, 90% of what they mass produce cheap shit, case in point, they notoriously steal American and copy it, but the quality isn't there, a lot of their stuff is short term use, then you throw it away because it's cheaper to replace it than fix it, by design.

Personally I'm tired of replacing their crap and because they locked up the mkt, there isn't any choice, you're stuck buying Chinese.
Hell, even Craftsman is made in China now since they were bought out.

Man, the Chinese don't know Trump very well, do they?

Oh Good God! The left, the media and Chinese are stupid! We have these minerals, problem is the EPA regs in this country made it near impossible to mine. We have a mine here in Ca, sits in what is essentially desert coast range, no one lives there, it's freakin desolate and this guy has a large productive mine, open pit style if memory serves me..
He's been fighting to expand, because that's what you do when you mine, you follow the mineral, but both State and Fed are making it near impossible for his business to grow.

Anyway, that was under the Marxist Admin, I don't know how it is now. Point being, we have these so called rare earth minerals, which aren't all that rare, just a misnomer someone stuck on them.
This country is full of minerals, and China trying to leverage trade with but proves they are not good faith trading partners and it's time to kick their ass to the curb.

You'd think the Chinese are going to parachute in and take over our cities by the way the fake financial news is squealing...

Question?

Would you all be willing to sacrifice cheap Chinese shit, for American made products?

I would prefer it, especially knowing the pricing on most items would be driven down and kept low over time by competition.

I think so... especially with more of it made here.  Like Trump said in that one campaign stop, try to find a big screen TV made in the US.  It would be great for those companies to move back here and we have the option to buy American for most of our products, or the cheap shit.

That's the beauty of what's happening with decoupling from China and establishing true free-trade agreements with countries who actually operate within bounds of the free market, don't treat us like enemies, and instead of this globalist WTO-controlled crap.  We're getting back to a true global free market.  It's an amazing thing.

Here's Trump telling Amash's company what they're going to have to do now to stay in business...

Exactly! We have the skill to create masterpieces, while Chinese had slave labor creating quantity. I'd rather pay more for a product, particularly a tool, I know will last a lifetime of abuse that I can hand down knowing someone else will keep the memory of a time when I held it in my hand.
That's the thing that has been lost thanks to throw away Chinese shit, trade tools are no longer passed along, so a legacy dies, even a hammer no longer lasts, or an ax, all are crap.
Hell, Walmart just had a recall on cheap Chinese ax' where the heads were flying off.

Also, as companies move back, energy is cheap and productivity increases, hedging advantages they'd traditionally have in China.  A little higher cost without all that Chinese drama.

Oh God. Remember the riots over Clinton signing the Crony NAFTA deal? Those weren't ANTIFA, they were regular working people trying to warn the country of the evil that was about to descend upon the working class as that sucking sound of jobs leaving for China.
Remember all the culprits involved? The GOP and the Dim party, they both sold out the country.

It's hilarious because China was the biggest benefactor of the NAFTA deal.  Now, after Canada's manufacturing got shut down via the environazis, and with Trump shutting down Chinese content, Canada needs to figure out how to start producing stuff like steel.  They are getting pulled apart at the seams, and China is kicking their asses, even though Canada imports more than exports to China.

Then, the geniuses in Mexico are going to raise their minimum wage, which will be the opposite of the sucking sound Perot mentioned in the 92 debates.

QuoteTOKYO (Reuters) - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will treat U.S. President Donald Trump to an imperial banquet, front row seats at a sumo tournament and a trip to the country's biggest warship on a state visit as Tokyo seeks to avoid a bust-up over trade.

New Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Harvard-educated Empress Masako will host a lavish dinner for Trump during his stay through May 28, part of a display meant to showcase the two countries' alliance.

The U.S. leader will become the first foreign dignitary to be so honored since the monarch inherited the throne this month. Trump will also play golf with Abe and inspect Japan's Kaga helicopter carrier.

At their summit on Monday, Trump and Abe are expected to discuss topics from North Korea's nuclear and missile programs and China's economic and military rise to two-way trade at a time when Washington is embroiled in a trade war with Beijing.

"Various issues will come up during President Trump's visit but I don't think they will be so severe," Kenji Wakamiya, chairman of the lower house foreign affairs committee, told a Reuters News seminar this week. "I don't think (demands) will be as harsh as towards China."

Trump is kicking the shit out of China.
