Shoot, that's an easy one, and I'll be Solar knows the answer just like I do. What you want to call 'Corporations' -- which are actually just legal constructs made up of people an awful lot like you and Solar and me -- did not make China what it is today. Of course, they had their effects, but they can hardly be attributed as the architects of today's Chinese economy and political structure.

China did that. We supplied a LOT of money and trade and stuff -- in exchange for uncountable boatloads of consumer goods. But China is what it is because that's what it wants to be. Nothing in the US -- as a nation -- is responsible for that.

China's slow, gradual progress toward free trade and open markets has been largely financed by US consumers, but coincidentally. And not by US corporations, but by US consumers. That is why I recently commented elsewhere that we already bailed out China. It is very much in China's interest to bail out the US, and that's why the financial relationship between the two won't collapse.

If the US economy collapses. the Chinese economy will collapse about six minutes later. Beijing is painfully aware of this fact, and even China is not going to cut off its nose to spite its face.

We already did that.

Yes american corporations have not only bailed them out...have made them a superpower who has more money than all the industrialized nations in the world.....They own most of our debt and have enough cash on hand to bail out EUROPE...I have to say wow to that

Being all for free markets and capitolism is what its all about..and im all for it...I am not a socialist...but I do call a spade a spade and I will acknowledge when I believe republicans are wrong.
I believe strongly that some republicans are in denial that our Corporations created China out of the pursuit of more profits to enhance bonus's with no regard to any consequences...even when they saw the writing on the wall they didnt care as long as they made MORE.
Now we have a situation where china is thriving our corporations keep the chinese working....now there are some that want to tell me its all the american workers fault...its the unions fault and recently a new one its also  the American Consumers fault....and no where in any of the equasion is there one iota or the slightest most miniscule bit of fault by corporations.....nope not buying it for one second
Soon if not already..China will be the biggest threat to americas security and we wont be able to stop them and I submit if it wasnt for our corporations they would still be eating catchowmein

Thanks for saving me the trouble, but he has been told this a myriad of times, yet he is either to thick to acquire the knowledge, or unwilling to accept the responsibility that we are all to blame.

With that said, I think blame may be a strong word, they embraced Capitalism, partners do not war, they trade.
This was inevitable, they were a Country with a billion people existing on the equivalent of pennies a month, the Country could no longer afford to continue slipping behind.
As an enemy, the commies knew they had to do something, so they thought a little gov controlled capitalism could help support the commie system, but now it's loose, and the people want more, no matter what happens, the Genie is out and love his freedom.

Zip, if Cuba  were to collapse tonight, and embrace Capitalism tomorrow, what do you think the stages of growth would look like?
I guarantee you, GE, GM Intel, not one of them would be scrambling to set up shop.
The first thing that would happen is, cars from the early 50s would suddenly turn up here, then tobacco, because guys like you and I would go over there and look at the local merchandise and buy up large quantities and sell it here in the States, then return for more and these people would quickly incorporate to protect their investment.

And guess what, now those evil corporations have a face, and it's yours and mine.
The GMs and Intels of the World will show up much later, long after the brain drain has finished, when the people that were educated in Cuba are contacted by the Intels and GMs to help expand their business in Cuba.
But this is years after the collapse, it's you and I Zip, we are the reason these Countries grow, NOT Corporations, they never enter a green mkt, they want calm and stability, before they invest.
