Davis had nothing to do with the timing of it's release, but someone did.
The cartoon was released all around the World on Veterans Day, was it an accident?

Maybe I'm not through my first cup of coffee and the brain is foggy.....but I don't get the relationship with Veteran's Day.

In point of fact Davis apologized for the timing, although it DOES remain unclear who was actually behind the assignment of 11-11-10 to that specific cartoon. Davis claims he drew THIS strip a year ago.

That's a huge backlog until you realize it doesn't take much to computer-scan the basic food-groups of scenes where Garfield does this or that, appears with Jon or someone else---the whole spectrum of STOCK SCENES which can then be updated with those cutesy banal sayings that make this slick dreck such a crashing bore.

Ooooh. Garfield on rug. Garfield beside Jon's desk. Beside Jon's chair. In the shower. Meeting Jon's date. Doo-dah, doo-dah. Over a period of a year it becomes blindingly obvious he only drew a scene ONCE. Thereafter it became a Photoshop job.

Study the archives for GARFIELD and you'll see I'm right. This is cut-and-paste cartooning, long past its shelf-life. I can believe Davis when he said he drew it a year ago---and sent it in with 500 just like it.

The spider is representative of a Veteran, in the final scene, the lib teacher asks why we celebrate Veterans day Stupid Day.

Maybe Davis is innocent, but did he draw it a year ago, Veterans day?

Don't feel bad, I had to explain it to ST, and I had trouble face to face with her. :o ;)

It may be a Veteran thing, we see an insult coming.

In my defense I had only had 1/2 of my first "small" cups of coffee.  ;D ;D

In defense, you were face to face with Solar, that early in the morning.

Did you want cream and sugar with your grief counseling?
