just take this as advice for the future, people pay to play and yes, I'm a Capitalist, just like every other forum owner out there, we worked hard to build a following, and yes, it's a very expensive undertaking, so you can pretty much expect the same response from all forum owners you try and pull this on.

Look, I appreciate your endeavor, but like all of us, we paid dearly out of pocket to become successful, so it's frowned upon when someone tries to take a shortcut on the backs of others.
My advice would be to befriend people/site owners first, post their sites links on your site as a sign you support their work, and more than likely, they'll post your site to help you in Google searches when people look for posts on topics you've written.
But what you did is an insult to site owners that have worked very hard to get to where they are today.

So true, hitchhiking today is to take ones life for granted, whether you're asking for a ride, or foolish enough to pick one up, this isn't the 60s anymore.

I still pick up plenty of them, just a few I'll pass on. If they look like a transient, no way. If they look like they just need a lift, dressed decent, hair right length - and I got room, I stop. I offer a ride and a bottle of water, some of them have drunk 2-3 bottles in a rather short time.
I've given rides this year to Men and Women, usually with heartbreaking stories to tell. But... I'm 6'3", and have a face & mannerisms, that people seem to easily trust. Probably a fault of mine - I was helped so often as a teenage rebel, it's harder not to try and help when I might make a difference.

There's a huge difference in the Midwest and Ca, believe me, no one picks people up out here unless you're obviously in trouble, like a broken down car or bleeding, otherwise, they just drive on.

That's what usually happens to these threads when some kid comes in plugging his site, never once considering our posts on any given subject are far more intellectually involved with experience to back up our claims as well as documentation, so we go far beyond opinion.
I wish him luck in his endeavor, but he needs to target his audience, ignorant kids, not adults that lived history.

I have no idea about this particular posters intellect, but I am certain his historical reference, so this alone skews his perspective on topical issues.
I'm no different, my dad watched WWI, fought in WWII, so I cannot in anyway speak on his experience, nor can I begin to understand the how people in those days felt, I can only base my knowledge on his words and history books.
Youth today never experienced the America you and I grew up in, they have no clue how much they missed, or just how much they've lost, so their opinions tend to be a bit more myopic because they only know what they've witnessed in their short time here.
I've no doubt this guy is on the
Right path, which is why I suggested he target his age group, only he knows how to get through to them, far better than I ever could.
