I am posting this here because it is evolving into a purely political story. First the background:

This is a pretty good story with a meaningful timeline. I am familiar with the area and it is not what one would call a "bad area". It is near UNC-C and some nice retail areas. The initial shooting was around 4:00PM and the story indicates the protests began Tuesday night. This time of year it is still light until almost 8:00PM in Charlotte. That indicates to me this was not a spontaneous eruption, but organized. Anybody surprised BLM is on the scene? Even though it seems pretty clear the victim had a weapon, that doesn't matter. Then this morning a leader of the Nation of Islam has called for an economic boycott of Charlotte. Have we seen this picture show before?

Now why am I saying it is purely political? NC is a pivotal state in the presidential race. Recent polls show Trump gaining momentum. What does Hillary need in order to win the state? She must have a large Black turnout. So why not stage some riots to gin up the Black community. It is all so predictable from the democrat movement.

I'm surprised Hillary hasn't flown into the area to assess the situation and address the black community with her 'acquired' ghetto accent and ebonics speak.

A second night of rioting and the National Guard has been called. Last night the rioting was downtown which is 7-8 miles from where the original incident occurred. Another sign these are not spontaneous. I agree with folks who say this will be more of a help to Trump than Hillary.

Looks like the protesters are taking the looting and burning to other areas? If the protesters are traveling to "protest" then they are targeting for their destruction. Makes me think this is more about looting than protest.

You got it. Last night's events were not in a residential areas. People had to come to the location by purpose. Listening to the police chief just now he indicated there were a couple of hours of peaceful protests before the thugs showed up. Conveniently, around 8:00PM when it had just gotten dark.
