Gun-Grabber Nightmare: Landmark Court Ruling Paves Way for New Class of Homemade Guns

In a landmark court decision, the Department of Justice conceded that uploading 3D-printed gun blueprints to the internet is legal.

The monumental decision comes after one man's five-year battle with the government for creating a 3D-printed gun and sharing the blueprints online.

In 2013, inventor Cody Wilson posted blueprints for the gun to his website. As Fox News reported, the gun, called The Liberator, was "the nation's first pistol built exclusively on a 3-D printer, consisting of 12 separate parts made from plastic and a single metal firing pin."

Within two days of the blueprints going up online, over 100,000 people had downloaded them.

By the following day, the federal government contacted Wilson claiming he violated International Traffic in Arms Regulations by posting the blueprints and demanded he take them down. According to the government, Wilson was required to give them notice before he uploaded the "technical data."

But after cooperating and taking them down, Wilson realized the federal government may have violated his First Amendment rights — and he was going to do something about it.

"We said no, we're Americans. Americans have the right to access this data unquestionably and the internet is now the commons in the way that libraries were in the past," Wilson said to Wired.

In 2015, he decided to take his case to court with the Second Amendment Foundation. And three years after filing the lawsuit, Wilson and SAF won.

Details regarding the suit came Tuesday in a press release from SAF.

Yes, anti-gunners heads are definitely exploding, but what of the NRA, how will they react to this news, a lawsuit they had nothing to do with.
A little history on the NRA and its drive to regulate firearms.

Quote the NRA spawned a subgroup devoted to them and supported state-level permit requirements for concealed weapons.

In the Prohibition Era, the conversation changed again with the urban use of shotguns and the fully automatic Thompson gun.

These lurid hallmarks of bank robbers and warring gangsters became a target for lawmakers. In the legislating beehive of Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal, the National Firearms Act of 1934 and the Gun Control Act of 1938 regulated such guns, banned some buyers and made gun dealers register with the government.

The NRA worked with Congress and the White House on those acts and supported their enforcement. The same was true when these restrictions were extended and tightened following the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and again by a 1968 gun bill responding to the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Sen. Robert Kennedy.

But in the late 1960s, there was also widespread concern about rising crime rates and the deadly riots that flared in the nation's major cities. Citizens were concerned about their safety and turned to gun purchases for their personal protection. And many NRA members wanted their organization to get out in front of that.

Point is, even though the NRA has done much to protect the 2nd, they were also to blame for much of our problems today, when they helped the govt usurp the Bill Of Rights, a Bill that specifically states, the govt has no power over the Original 10.

What good is any gun without AMMO ?

Former President Obama was very effective at drying up various calibers of Ammunition, at different times.

To my knowledge, his direct assault on the 2A has never been successfully prosecuted.

Panic buying had a lot to do with ammo being scarce. We have learned our lesson. Even though the local gun stores look to buy ammo occasionally, I will not sell.

During the panic, even powder could not be found, in stores or on line. Have to say one thing about shooters, when they panic, sales spike!

Seems that they followed the strategems of the RINO, appease the left and compromise in order to get some of what you want because they trust the left to work together towards one uniparty.

Not out West, there was no shortage of anything, with the exception of shotgun shells.
I shop at Big 5, and the guy in the gun section said they had plenty of stock in the warehouse as well.
I think the issue existed, I also think the media looked for hotspots and stories to tell.

QuoteCody Wilson, the Texas man behind the controversial 3-D printed gun, is accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile female, according to a police affidavit obtained by Fox News.

Austin police said they conducted a forensic interview in late August with a juvenile who said she was sexually assaulted by Wilson after meeting him on a website called SugarDaddyMeet.com, the affidavit stated.

Wilson had not been arrested in connection with the accusation as of Wednesday afternoon. Austin police Cmdr. Troy Officer told The Associated Press that the department is working with national and international law enforcement to locate Wilson, who missed a scheduled flight back to the U.S. from Taiwan. Officer said that a friend of the girl told Wilson before he left for Taiwan that police were investigating the allegation against him.

The juvenile told police she connected with a person using the profile name "Sanjuro," and who identified himself as "Cody Wilson." She told police Wilson told her he was "a big deal," according to the police documents.

The affidavit does not specify the victim's age, only identifying her as a "juvenile female under the age of 17." Officer told the AP that the girl is 16 years old.

"My detectives have interviewed ... this victim," Officer said. "In their opinion, if someone mistakes her age it would be because they think she's younger, not older ..."

During the forensic interview, the victim told police she and Wilson exchanged cell phone numbers and continued to have conversations using the Apple iMessage service on her phone. They allegedly arranged to meet Aug. 15, 2018 at the parking lot of Bennu Coffee in Austin.

The girl reported she received images of Wilson's genitalia and sent a picture of herself naked, according to the affidavit.

So much for that...

Sick Of Silence

If you exchange naked pictures, you are not a victim.
With all these lawyers with cameras on the street i'm shocked we have so much crime in the world.

There is constitutional law and there is law and order. This challenge to law and order is always the start to loosing our constitutional rights.

Frauditors are a waste of life.

Just saw this one, its funny 12 gauge shells was all we could find in our stores here. Big box retailers, Academy and Walmart, Gander mountain, ect. had all of their ammo shelves covered with just 12 gauge. No rim fire, rifle, or pistol. Gun stores keep some on hand for those who bought guns, but did not sell that to the general public, not at reasonable prices anyway. Got so bad here when I would drop a 22 bullet in the tall grass, I would get down on my hands and knees to look for it. Anyway, I learned my lesson well, I am ready to survive another shortage,,,,,,,, or was until the great flood washed everything away.

So much for what
This has nothing to do with the law being proposed.

Thank God your right. It just seems we have yet another good guy being accused of sexual crimes like kavanaugh. The left seems to do that alot. Not that im sure that that is what happened here but it just smells fishy
