Doctors Without Borders Lied

"Doctors Without Borders marked the roof of the building in the week prior to the Oct. 3 airstrikes," said Tim Shenk, a DWB press officer. "The markings are hospital flags with the MSF logo."

The DWB hospital flag with the organization's logo is not among the internationally recognized emblems that warn attacking pilots to avoid the marked structure.

The DWB refused to produce any aerial photos of the building or describe the size of the purported flags.

An earlier aerial photo taken months before the attack shows a barren rooftop without any medical emblem or insignia.

"If pilots see a red crescent on a target, they radio delay to the ground, then radio higher for confirmation to [Central Command]," said the former officer, who taught at the Navy War College and has flown in both strike and close air support missions.

Gould said that its possible MSF chose not to install a Red Cross or Red Crescent for fear of retaliation by the Taliban. "That big red flag on the top of your building is a big target for the Taliban."

He said "Doctors without Borders does not historically do a good job of communicating with the military because the other side says 'you're working with the military' and then you're a bigger target."

Yep, every clear-thinking world-citizen knows we didn't intentionally target the hospital.  DWB was probably relying on word of mouth to confirm their location.  It'd worked so far.  But a murphy's law situation developed when the Taliban crossed-over into the north, several hours before.

If they refuse to properly mark the hospital and get bombed in a war zone, that's their own fault.
One of every five Americans you meet has a mental illness of some sort. Many, many, of our veteran's suffer from mental illness like PTSD now also. Help if ya can. :) http://www.projectsemicolon.org/share-your-story.html

Agreed

To be honest, Dr's without borders, shouldn't have been where they were to start with.

And to be honest, I wouldn't trust one of these so called "dr's" to treat my healthcare needs, when they're not smart enough to stay the hell out of a war zone. I mean seriously, how can you be assured they're smart enough to practice medicine?

I agree with what you said.  These people need to stay out of war zones.  Not only do they risk their own lives, but the lives of their patients, too.  They are sitting ducks.

It's the DoD covering it's failure.
Actually that was not a failure. That was a real tragedy!

Do they every blame the Taliban?  ISIS?  Hezbollah?  somehow, it's always our fault.

How did the DoD fail?

It's not incumbent on the DoD to ensure the safety of Dr's without borders, when they voluntarily enter a warzone.

We don't pay for a standing military to coddle liberals. We pay for that, so they can kill the enemy when and wherever we need the enemy fought.

You voluntarily enter a warzone, you do so at your own damned risk.

Refuse, to obey, International laws regarding Hospitals in warzones, and you get hit in a bombing.

Oh well, you again chose to do so, at your own damned risk.

It's not the fault of others, because you chose to refuse to obey international treaties and the law regarding operating a hospital in a warzone.

I can't speak for today, but in my day, it was widely known in the medical community that there are conventions requiring that hospitals mark their roofs and or area's of the ground around them, so they will not be bombed.

These libtards refused to do so.

That's not the fault of the DoD, or a "failure" or a "tragedy" of any sort whatsoever.

Save perhaps, it's a tragedy absolute morons such as these are allowed to practice medicine in the first place.

It's not the fault of others, because you chose to ignore common sense, and keep your happy ass safe at home, instead of in a warzone.

Why would they not do the most basic and obvious thing?
