House passed the tax bill 227 - 203.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/12/19/house-approves-final-tax-reform-bill-as-trump-eyes-major-legislative-win.html

Dim's are casting this as a tax scam - increase the deficit and feeding the rich. They'll do ANYTHING to derail a Trump success.

Current house breakdown is 239 vs. 193 (pubs to dims).

https://pressgallery.house.gov/member-data/party-breakdown

If these numbers are correct, 2 votes were not cast. And, assuming the Dims did their lemming impression, about 10 pubs voted against.

The Senate is up next.

IF The economy stays and we see real GDP growth it will be a nightmare for democrats in 2018. As people begin to understand the cuts they will see he benefits of it.  Those moderate democrats in Trump states can be destroyed if the GOP can find some decent candidates.

Update / Correction: As was indicated in the previous post, the House passed the Tax Bill 227 - 203. It was 12 pubs that voted against so every Pub voted. Then 191 Dims voted against and 2 abstained since the Dims hold 193 seats.

Only 13 votes would have pushed it the other way - I'm surprised all the Dims didn't show up.

Driving home, I heard all kinds of CRAP on the radio about how a $1200~1400 benefit wouldn't mean -squat- to the average American family, Democrats were LAUGHING at how little it actually is.

So, I tried REALLY HARD to think of a single time the Democrats reduced my taxes, which I've been paying since Richard Nixon.  NEVER.

And the Democrats are saying it's "too small to make a difference" - are you kidding me?   That enough to cover my Propane heating bill for the entire year, and leave me with a couple of months of electric bill covered.  Whenever the Democrats step in, usually with higher rates, or some crazy regulation that raises fuel & electricity rates, I lose twice!   I pay more in taxes, and have less money to pay the higher costs!

The only Hand-out I want - get your hand OUT of my wallet, Democrats!

Hold On!
The Bill has to go back for a revision and revote. Talk about convoluted. They claim a provision by Cruz violates House rules, so now they have to strike those and revote.
Hell, just change the damn House rules instead.

House Republicans approved sweeping changes to the U.S. tax code Tuesday, but they will have to vote again on a final bill Wednesday morning after the legislation hit a procedural snag in the Senate late Tuesday afternoon.

Republican lawmakers had been barreling toward their goal of passing the first major tax overhaul in decades before the end of the year. But in their haste, they appeared to have violated a Senate procedural measure known as the Byrd rule.

A Senate aide confirmed to CNBC that three provisions in the bill adopted by the House on Tuesday do not comply with Byrd rule requirements. The rule governs what types of provisions the Senate may consider under the procedural budget window known as reconciliation. One of these provisions would allow 529 college savings plans to be used for home-schooling expenses. Another is related to a tax exemption for a very narrow category of colleges.

The Senate is still expected to vote to pass a revised version of the tax bill Tuesday night, and send the final legislation back to the House for a procedural vote Wednesday morning.

Earlier Tuesday, the GOP tax plan passed the House by a margin of 227-203, and Republicans erupted in cheers when the bill garnered enough support. Twelve Republicans — all from high-tax states that traditionally lean Democratic — bucked their party's leadership and opposed the bill. As House members voted on the legislation, chants of "shame!" came down from protesters in the chamber's gallery.

Once the House votes again to pass the tax bill, it will send the broadly unpopular measure to the Senate, where Republicans were previously expected to push it through by Wednesday morning. With Senate passage, the legislation would go to President Donald Trump to sign it into law.

One phrase both Democrats and Republicans agree on...

"We're almost there...."  - Democrats pealing off 12 votes, a few more days of negative press, and it'll never pass.

"We're almost there...."  - Republicans trying to pass the darn thing before losing another voter.

Well the GOP got it through the house and still f**ked it up and have to vote again tomorrow.

Right now the senate democrats are having a ten hour tantrum. Quite entertaining.

Good news if  it  passes. Still think dems make gains  in 2018 but not as much if it  passes.

Vote was 51 - 48 - exactly polarized.

The Senate is seated with 52 Pubs, 46 Dims, and 2 Independents who caucus with the Dims. The vote was exactly on party lines (counting the independents as Dims). McCain did not vote.

So now we've seen real jobs coming back into our country and this will not only accelerate that but also the Tax Bill puts more back in paychecks early next year. The Pubs need to get the message out: "The Dims have demonstrated that, as a whole, they are not for the prosperity of the American people." How else can you get a 100% vote against the HC bill with so many positives in it.

I hear that this bill will also take the bite out of BO care. They need to publicize the benefits of the HC change too - how much people can save on HC ... if we can now. I haven't heard much about it.

But a bit premature. This bill still has to go back through the House ... hopefully a formality.

Remember the good old days of Democrats whining and passing TAX increases?

Yeah, I was thinking of them, every time I hear Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer pretend a TAX cut is the end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it...

And then there was Bill Clinton's first TAX increase, remember that one?  Retroactive back to the beginning of the year!   Of course, the Clintons themselves converted a bunch of taxable stuff into non-taxable stuff, December the previous year - Yep, "I feel your pain..." President, felt no pain himself.   The Democrats were riding high on the Reagan TAX cuts and booming economy, which could have ZERO'ed out all national debt, but they failed to cut any spending (as promised).

Listening to Democrats talk about finances, spending, TAXes, deficits - is Bizarro world, or opposite land.
Chuck Schumer strenuously warned of the dire consequences to Republicans next election if they went ahead with cutting TAXes.
Schumer went on to say it was a gift to the wealthy and screwing the middle class.  (Obama did his best to wipe out the so-called middle class).
Democrats say $1200~1400 savings for the average American family is a joke, and won't help at all.

In MY world, keeping $100 bucks a month of my OWN hard earned money ....  who the hell do these people think they are!?!?!?

Democrats treat everyone as if "WE" work for "THEM", and it's only through their wisdom and good graces, we are granted precious government services.   Here I thought Slave ownership was repealed, and somehow, Democrats are gradually brining it back, one TAX & government program at a time.

This TAX cut isn't anything near what needs to happen.  Reduce spending, quit whining about Deficits and start managing Government like the rest of America, live within a budget.

The Dims care pointing out fiscal irresponsibility due to increased debt. The Pubs are saying the economic gains will offset the hit on the deficit.

How could Trump motivate funneling some of the economic gains back into paying down the deficit. What if the administration could turn back a good part of the BO $9T ... BTW, for which we have NOTHING to show. That would substantiate further the incompetence and irresponsibility of BOs administration and the Dim approach in general.

He should put his finance geniuses to work on that. If he could actually reduce the deficit - or even just keep it from rising at first - then the Dims would be in checkmate. I don't see the mechanism, but I don't know the financial shell game well enough to establish the mechanics. Anyone out there with ideas how that would work?

Keep in mind, half of BO's debt is directly attributable to the gop'E, so don't expect these leftist scum to cut back on anything.

I wasn't aware of debt attribution to GOPe (non-conservative Pubs). I don't doubt it, just don't know how I'd support the claim.

But even so, IF the current administration wanted to cut debt by the mechanism they have been advertising ... revenues from a rising economy ... is there actually a mechanism to do that? Or are they just blowing hot air (as usual)?

We gave the Pubs both Houses, so all debt incurred is directly attributable to them.

Maybe I'm not following your question, but it's common sense, that if you reduce pressure on the people, remove roadblocks and allow us to achieve greatness, we spend money, a currency that is taxable which brings income to the federal coffers.
JFK did this and it worked like a dream, Reagan did it and the left mocked him,  called it trickle down economics, yet it gave us one of the greatest peacetime expansions since the 50s.
