The health insurance mandates that are an essential cornerstone to making Obamacare work are dependent upon IRS enforcement. That means the IRS needs something like 15,000 new agents to enforce the coverage mandate.

One of the first things the Republcan house will do is to defund this effort and not provide the IRS with the agents they need to enforce the coverage mandates.

Is anyone else aware of any other Republican plans to take a bite out of Obamacare.
If you believe big government is the solution then you are a liberal. If you believe big government is the problem then you are a conservative.

No but I will start looking.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.  It needs to be stopped by any means possible.
I pray, not wish because I have a God not a Genie.

No, I'm not aware of any other plans, but it is something that needs to be stopped.  If I wanted to wait 6 months for treatment (if the treatment was allowed), I'd go to Canada or England!

I don't think it's going to so much be the republicans in washington that will stop it but the states taking the fight legally supported by the tenth ammendment. We need to remember the founders gave more power to the states and constrained the federal goverment lest we trade one set of elites for another because we look to them to fix our problems instead of ourselves an our local and state goverments.  They listen to us because we Know them they can't forget us.

I agree much of the battle will be fought in the courts, but I'm also excited about the ways the Republican house can fight it by starving it of funds. We've got to hit this thing on multiple fronts and not ease up till it's dead.

The court battle that has pitted 23 states against the govt that is still in process will have a big meaning on OBama care
If the states are successful that takes a large bit out of obamacare funding...its hard to see how it could survive that.

Ditto if the house can cut IRS funding for the new agents needed to enforce the coverage mandate.

Is that what the republicans mean when they say they are going to defund obamacare ? not fund the agents needed for obamas SS troops

Dan

Yep. That's what we mean when we say we're going to strangle Obamacare in it's crib.

Unfortunately I believe that will be real difficult without the gop owning both chambers...and its not looking great for the senate atm

I disagree. Spending legislation starts in the house. And there will be enough Dems in the senate up for reelection in redder states than the 2010 candidates who will be reluctant to keep giving the middle finger to their voters. This can work. Yea we can!

It's also worth remembering that more then a few Democrats were pretty uncomfortable with Obamacare so a thumping this November is liable to have an educational effect even on those who who aren't/weren't up for re-election as well as those who survive  .

What's kind of interesting to me about the Obamacare fight, at least right this minute, is that it's hardly being spun as a done deal. There are some efforts to push the idea that as an entitlement it's always and forever but not to the extent I would've thought.

I was anticipating a real wave of assurances that having passed Obamacare there's no point in fighting it. But there doesn't seem to be much in the way of a push-back like that.

Oh yeah, high everyone.

Oh good, the IRS involved in health care.  Only the dems could come up with that one.  Geesh, haven't I got enough problems?  I guess not.  C'mon November so I can vote early and vote often.

I agree with dan and arpad and I was thinking more broadly..
I cant stand obamacare its going to crush people that work eventually, healthcare is going to incredibly more expensive in the future and its going to get as lousy as englands and canadas..

How can anyone believe Were going to give free healthcare to 40 million additional people AND were going to lower the costs for everyone
Were going to strengthen medicare by borrowing 400 billion from an already broke system and giving it to Obamacare in the form of an IOU..
   give me a break
