Can anyone answer me this..? In hearing a lot on both this Forum as well as from other anti-war conservatives who have bet a lot on the promise of Trump ending the endless wars, don't you think this works against his efforts? Don't get me wrong, I am happy this piece of shit was killed, but what does this mean in terms of our involvement in the middle east?
Iran's own people are helpless against those who are in power in iran, yet this has not stopped those in power from killing their own people. It is hard to stop a war against those who do not want peace. There is only one way to peace and that is when one side surrenders.

I am not pro-war and do not know many people that are but acting like cowards will certainly lead us into war.

My view is that Trump did not do enough. Iran needs to say Holy Shit! This is no Obama.

You have to remember, Iran is broke financially and broken militarily, they can't even leave their own shores.
The best they can hope for is their military doesn't turn on them now that the butcher general is dead. I am not in the least concerned, Iran will lose, there is no doubt in my mind. The only issue is sleeper cells on US soil waiting for a signal to attack.
Again, it won't be large scale, just a way to inflict terror, and we already know where most of them are. If Iran gets really stupid, Trump would cripple their military in a day and the people will revolt. That's the outcome that scares the Iranian dictators, they know Trump is capable.

Like Trump said, Iran has never won a war, but they're good at negotiating..... Trump is better.

Oh, and one post per reply...

One reply rule slipped my mind.. won't happen again. And you make good points, i'm not worried at all! Id rather have Trump take them on then any dem candidate.

When we're attacked, we have to respond.  Iran is weak, contrary to popular belief.  The leftists make them sound like the second coming, but they're broke, and our technology is light years beyond theirs.  Remember, we have drones in their skies, not the other way around.

Also, the reason we don't want endless wars is the loss of American lives.  A drone strike on someone intent on attacking us is a no brainer.

No worries. We're totally fine.  Nobody in the United States is going to bed tonight worried.

Maybe I have been influenced slightly by this. I did have a rare day off, so ive been reading to much on it. Not so much that I believe they are a super power, but that they do pose a threat to us, more so in the middle east region then at home. That I don't really subscribe to.

Meet the Other Major Terrorist Killed in Soleimani Drone Strike

In some ways, killing al-Muhandis was more significant than the death of Soleimani. He's been an active terrorist against the U.S. since the occupation of Iraq and helped create the umbrella Shia militia group Hashd al-Shaabi. Hashd was originally founded to fight ISIS in Iraq, but has morphed into a shadow organization exercising political and military control of Iraq on behalf of Iran.

Al-Jazeera:

"Muhandis was demonstrative of how Iran built its network of proxies in Iraq," said Phillip Smyth, a US-based researcher focused on Shia armed groups, as cited by AFP news agency.
"He has history with basically every major network Iran had in Iraq. You would not have found a stronger ideal" of Iran's influence in the country, he said.

Muhandis was sentenced to death in Kuwait for involvement in the 1983 bomb attacks on the U.S. and French embassies.
The Popular Mobilization Force (PMF) is ostensibly part of the Iraqi security services. But Muhandis ran it as his own little fiefdom, defying the Iraqi government on occasion in order to do the bidding of his masters in Tehran.

Today the PMF and allied militias control large parts of Iraq and neighboring Syria, where they are allied with President Bashar Assad and the Lebanese Hezbollah. Israel and the U.S. view the groups as part of an aggressive Iranian campaign to dominate the region.

Over the summer, PMF groups blamed Israel for mysterious drone attacks that targeted their positions in Iraq. The strikes eventually lead to the restructuring of the PMF to integrate them into the Iraqi military. The restructuring was approved by Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi.

The death of Muhandis is a tremendous blow to Iranian influence in Iraq. Since Hashd exercised influence throughout the region, his death will be felt from Damascus to Beirut to Tehran. Muhandis was seen as something of a hero by many Shias in Iraq. But the fact is, he was a murderous, hateful fanatic who was an enemy of the United States and a threat to American interests and personnel.

killing of Soleimani as "long in the making."

Cut from the middle of the article..

"We've known every minute of every day where Soleimani is for years—there's no moment of any given day where five or six intelligence agencies can't tell you where he is," a Republican foreign policy hand said. "It's been one of his talking points: The Americans can find me any time, they just don't dare hit me."

That calculation proved misguided in the wee hours of January 3 in Iraq, where Soleimani landed amid spiraling tensions between U.S.- and Iranian-allied factions. "He arrived at the airport and we had a target of opportunity, and based on the president's direction, we took it," the senior defense official said.

I Saw Qasem Soleimani's Brand of Evil Firsthand — It's Worse Than You Could Possibly Imagine

In 2015 I went to Iraq to report on the state of ISIS after one year had passed since they unleashed a murderous reign of violence against the Iraqi people.

I met the family in the above picture at an IDP camp outside of Erbil, Iraq. The father explained their desperate situation, homeless because of the latest ISIS reign of terror.

His body was severely burned, his son lay silent on the cot in the tent. When we asked about these things, he explained how Iranian Shia militias had killed his wife, tortured him and his children, including his young boy. The militias, who would have been under the control of Qasem Soleimani, proceeded to drill holes in the boy's legs as a means to further threaten the father.

The boy stared silently at the ceiling, seemingly void of all emotion. Dad explained that he still has nightmares daily, and often soiled himself because of them.

Listening to the details of such horrific violence and seeing the results of it face to face was hard enough to go through. One can only imagine what it was like to actually live it.

It was some guy in his early 20s sitting in front of a screen with controls who took out their top Iranian general who was a legend for them over 40 years.  After that guy pushed the button, he went to Subway and got a 6-inch turkey club.

Nahhh considering the bad guys were burnt and mangled I'd vote for kentucky fried chicken...
