I'm still waiting...but I'm not holding my breath.  In all of the political back and forth, the emotionally-charged rhetoric, and the constant accusations about how we're all supposed to be so xenophobic, bigotted, and anti-immigrant, I have YET to hear WORD ONE about the responsibility that Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, etc., have to help their own people.  Let's just be honest: these Hispanic countries WANT those poor people up here.  Rather than doing something to help alleviate poverty and corruption in their own nations, they're only too happy to unload their problems on us--that way, their own wealthy people get to keep their money while letting someone else be responsible for their citizens.  The Mexican government is well aware that once illegal immigrants find work, they'll start wiring money back home to their relatives, and apparently, Central American countries are now catching on to the game.  MILLIONS of American dollars get sent right out of our economy and straight into Mexico every week on payday--and they know it.  They remind me of irresponsible, partying young people who keep having babies out of wedlock, but who won't get married, hold down a job, or get serious about life because they know that their enabling folks will take care of the kids and keep bailing them out.  Time to call a spade a spade--the immigration crisis is a disgrace--NOT TO US--but to the Hispanic countries that won't take care of their own people.

Your point is valid. However, the USA is not responsible for those countries. The left likes to see the solution in the USA "fixing" those countries. Keep in mind the same people offering this solution are the same folks who do not want USA involvement anywhere else. That leaves us with the only option we have - controlling OUR borders. I truly believe if we do that other countries will take action on their own.

Real easy fix.....

Accept no asylum requests at the US border. All asylum requests will be handled at the US embassy in the seekers country of origin, if no US Embassy in their country the the adjoining country.  US officials ad BPS agents are not equipped to handle such Investigations which are better handled in the seekers country or origin with presentation of records, facts, police reports etc.

All asylum seekers at US borders will be re directed to US Embassy in their home country. PERIOD.

If it takes te years then it takes ten years......

Actually the US has fixed these countries, a number of times. We've gone in fixed the roads, set up schools, straighten out the infrastructure, thrown out the cooked politicians suppressed the bandits; and then we left. By the time we got back to the US, a new set of bandits and crooked politicians had moved in.
