Here's a snip from a recent editorial at Investor's Business Daily...

QuoteGiven the way politics gets reported these days, it's easy to conclude that the widening gap is the result of Republicans become more extreme in their views. That is, after all, a mantra among Democrats and the press. The GOP is the party of racist, sexist, xenophobic, right-wing extremists, we hear over and over again, while Democrats are but humble centrists.

The Pew data, however, make it clear that the shift toward the extreme has happened among Democrats, not Republicans.

This can be seen in dramatic fashion when you look at where the center of each party was in 1994, and where it is today. Pew used a 10-item scale of political values to determine ideological purity among those who claim affiliation with the two parties. The results show that while the Republican center moved only slightly to the right over the past 23 years, the center of Democratic part shifted far to the left.

The Pew Research study is linked in the IBD editorial. It's worth a look, though it's rather long. The graphics show in unmistakable form the dramatic surge in leftward-shift during the Obama years.

What's really sad in all of this, is the GOP has never actually represented the Conservative Right, merely played lip service.
So the question is, what was the measure used?
Considering how far left the party drifted left after Reagan, or before that, after electing Nixon.
This truly is encouraging, in that the divide exposes just how tiny a faction the far left Dim party has become.

What I find interesting in the questions involved, is not a one was based in Constitutional awareness, or even remotely related, it was all based on "Feelings".

T, check out page 5, regarding space. I have always suspected this, where libs are cowards, see safety in numbers and fear us independent types that prefer to be as far away from the deplorable' as possible.

What is amazing is how both parties have ignored where the American people are. I have been following politics since the mid 60's and it is telling where democrat and republican run from as there as philosophy. Those democrats elected are LBJ, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Obama. The one thing they had in common was they ran as "moderates", even LBJ and Obama. The GOP has had Nixon, Reagan, GHW Bush, George W Bush and Trump. They all ran as conservatives although some of these are not true conservatives. It is all very clear to me and a majority of the American people. However, the clowns inside the beltway refuse to acknowledge reality.

Yeah, I saw that difference between where the two sides would like to live, and how they prefer to live. It's no surprise that the Left rules the cities and the Right runs everything else.

Looking at the graph I put in my original post, what really strikes me is the drastic collapse of the middle -- the "purple" section. Moderation is being torn apart by the leftward drift of the Left, fortified by the Left's exclusionary tactics, as typified by party chairman Tom Perez's recent statement:

Quote"Every Democrat, like every American, should support a woman's right to make her own choices about her body and her health. That is not negotiable and should not change city by city or state by state."

Of course, it's not a secret that supporting "a woman's right to make her own choices about her body and her health" is code for supporting unlimited access to abortion on demand. But this attitude flies in the face of recent research that determined that 28% of Democrats actually oppose abortion entirely.

It is heartening to observe one's opponent shooting himself in the foot for the sake of ideological purity, especially when it's being done in an immoral cause.

Exactly! They know where the big money comes from and it's not nickels and dimes from the people.
The party serves, not the people, but the corporations and special interest groups wanting a slice of the taxpayers' labor, and now that the party's figured out how to use the printing press, they don't even need our tax dollars, with the exception of funding big banks/Wall Street investments in financing their profit system.

TEA has not only been sending a message to these Marxist scum, we're making a difference in culling their herd and sending in people we can hold accountable.
One more Midterm, and it looks like we'll have Majority effect in the House.

They have only themselves to blame for their demise in not upholding the Constitution, let alone destroying its values along the way.
