Thanks for starting a thread on this subject. There are a number of things about how the NK issue has evolved over the last week or so.

First, I think fat boy is being shown his tantrums no longer get the attention he wants - more money. The past few administrations have tried to pacify him with bailouts. He is of of bullets unless he wants to commit suicide. Unfortunately, he is probably perfectly capable of that call.

Next, Trump is not getting the credit he should for getting the Chicoms and Russia to go along with sanctions. They do not want fat boy playing with nukes either. I think Trump is showing true foreign policy leadership as our adversaries are beginning to understand Trump does not bluff.

Last, we are seeing the emergence of a "rock star" in Niki Haley. That is term being thrown around by the media, not my term. I think she is being groomed by the GOP. Having her in this position gives her foreign policy she needs as a former governor. She has her detractors in SC. I think mainly it is by the establishment there.

Let's all hope and pray this NK issue is resolved peaceably. It will not be easy.

Your analysis is so good, I had to come back and mention - did you read it on the air today (Tuesday), or was that some other talk show host?

North Korea Mulling Plan to Strike Guam, State Media Announces.

SEOUL — North Korea says it is "seriously reviewing" a plan to strike the U.S. Pacific territory of Guam with missiles — just hours after President Donald Trump told the regime that any threat to the United States would be met with "fire and fury."

A spokesman for the Korean People's Army, in a statement carried by the regime's state-run KCNA news agency on Wednesday (local time), said it was going over "military options to form attack positions" around the U.S. territory in order to "send a stern warning" to the United States.

In another statement citing a different military spokesman, North Korea also said it could carry out a pre-emptive operation if the United States showed signs of provocation, according to Reuters.

If I recall she was being interviewed by Maria Bartiromo on her Sunday morning show.

OK, I get it, not that it just occurred to me.  You've been telegraphing it from the Bill Clinton era, little Kim wants to be known as a "terrorist".  a badge of honor, no, he wants money for his failing economy, and to put fear into the hearts of the rest of the world.   He's out of his political diapers, wearing big-boy pants now, everyone take notice, he's crafting his image as a crazy SOB with nukes.

What would it take to get little Kim to settle down and stop acting crazy?   Has he said he wants a few Trillion American dollars?  Nope, can't recall hearing he asking.   Maybe the Obamas & Clintons "conditioned" him, so he expects the USA to step up to the plate, head hung low, "please, please, little Kim, please don't nuke us, here's money, please go away quietly, we're sorry", as we bow several times and slink away 'Obama style'.   Yeah, maybe a huge public apology might do it, I'll bet there's liberals advocating just that!

How many bombers have we flown over North Korea, unmolested, in the last 2 weeks?   Does this nut have a death-wish?   Is China just "letting Kim go" as far as he wants, expecting to step in and reinsert another leader after someone knocks him off?  As in testing the USA resolve to fight another war?  Is Russia cooperating with China, pulling this muscle-man crap, itching to get into another proxy war?  They've been doing that for decades, starting little wars to expand their territory, and running their economy into near bankruptcy...

So what's the "severe lesson" little Kim is gonna teach us?   He's a bad-ass dictator of a tiny little country without an economy, starving people, information land-locked... and has nukes?  Kim is assuming, American's lack resolve - Oh, thanks Barak Obama!  With any luck, Trump and the next POTUS won't their entire time FIXING the 8 years of Obama Diplomacy!  Just imagine for a minute, a POTUS Hillary Clinton's fix for this... :scared:  All those years of experience as Secretary of State - totally screwed up American policy, in the White House.

Let's try a little perspective. NK is Smaller than Northern Ca. SK and NK together are smaller than Ca. in total with 15 million fewer in population.
How is an agrarian nation, where the people spend most of their time in search of food, planting, and harvesting, a male population of fighting age of 5 million men between the ages 25-54 years, going to fight unarmed?

Now let's look at the footprint NK has from which to launch an attack, roughly the size of any small city in the US, extremely easy targets to obliterate if necessary, and if this were to happen, keeping in mind we have all their mobile launchers targeted at this very moment, so in the event a war were to break out, it would be 90% over within the first 15 minutes of an attack by NK.

Sure, NK may get off a couple of lucky shots towards Seoul, but truth is, China does not want US forces that close to their border and will do everything in their power to prevent it.
In short, there will never be a war with NK, though we may remove his capabilities to make threats to his neighbors if he makes another provocative launch.

Interesting factoid, if you lived in NK, you would be 23.68% more likely to be murdered
4.70 in every 100,000 people are murdered annually in North Korea compared to 3.80 in The United States
This entry contains the number of victims of an unlawful death purposefully inflicted on a person by another person. Data is originally sourced from either criminal justice or public health systems.
Question is, who is doing all this killing, the State?

Sadly, I have no faith that sanctions will have any positive impact on the behavior of No. Korea and a brief history argues why:
Korea existed as a strife and turmoil infested entity, contemporaneous w/the Rome of Julius Caesar.
Some 20 centuries later, it was annexed by Imperial Japan during the Sino-Japanese War, who ruled it w/an iron
fist from 1910-45.
Following WW2, it was partitioned; the Soviets controlling the North and the USA the South.
In it's long and tortured existence, No. Korea has never experienced even a momentary respite of either stability or tranquility. Consequently, it has no legacy of calm, introspection or tolerance.
Rather, the behavior of its leadership is the predictable result of the legacy of its history.
In my judgement, sanctions are the result of naive and wishful thinking; of which nothing good will emerge!!!

I think you are correct.  It seems we've been imposing sanctions off and on for quite awhile and they have done absolutely no good and perhaps Kim Jong-un thinks we are bluffing.  The only step next seems like a very limited air strike; but would that provoke Russia or China to strike on their behalf?

Why do people think either China or Russia would retaliate of behalf of NK?
That's not going to happen, ever!

Do believe you hit it on the nail. This fat little pig could not even launch a type of guerrilla warfare against the U.S.or South Korea. He has one big splash and no back up. If he tries to invade, the south Korean armed forces are among the best trained and disciplined, he would not stand a chance. I do not see China supplying him.

Yep, let's put the US and Japan aside for a moment, South Korea alone could kick his fat ass all the way back to China.
I worked with ROK marines, these guys are not only tough and disciplined, they're smart and dedicated and put country first and freakin hate the little dictator.
But looking at NK' allies, in truth, he has none, he's done the bidding of communists for decades, but the truth is, he does it because he has no actual power of his own, he's played the rabid Chihuahua on their behalf for food, fuel, and power, but the fact remains, he's expendable.
The Russians and Chinese will not stop us if we go after him, nor will they retaliate on his behalf, NK just isn't worth it in the big scheme of things.
Hell, he has no impact beyond a boil on the ass of earth, and if lanced, not one nation would shed a tear, while the majority of the free world would quietly celebrate, simply because NK offers nothing to the global community beyond disruption through the threat of war.

Its too funny how the intellectual elite are aghast that Trump promises destruction to NK if they continue to threaten the US, but the same elite are the  ones that did nothing to stop NK and have done the exact same thing  with Iran.

If  i were Trump i would have a quick presser and just play recordings of bush, clinton, and obama claiming they stopped the NK's from getting  nukes and then say, "This is the result of the idiot elites dealing with a problem"

NK didn't have nukes till Obozo entered the scene. Clinton is the reason NK even had access to nuclear material in the first place.
If you look at a time line, Obozo completely ignored NK as it continued to develop it's nuke and missile technology.
