Title: Supremes: statutory rape no reason to deport
Post by: quiller on May 31, 2017, 05:28:27 AM
Meet the Supremes!

QuoteA legal immigrant convicted of statutory rape doesn't automatically qualify for deportation, the Supreme Court ruled Tuesday, saying that a victim must be under 16 years of age for it to be considered an aggravated felony deserving removal under immigration law.

Juan Esquivel-Quintana, a citizen of Mexico and lawful U.S. resident since 2000, was 21 when he had sex with a 17-year-old. He pleaded no contest to a statutory rape charge in California in 2009.

But in a unanimous 8-0 ruling, the justices said that in most states the age of consent is 16, and so for federal purposes the crime of sexual abuse of a minor requires the victim to be under 16.

He's legal - LEGAL ?

Then he should be treated like any other LEGAL CITIZEN.

We've 30 MILLION ILLEGALS that need to GO HOME, let alone hundreds of thousands of worthless MUSLIM "REFUGEES".

So, not a priority.

I did not think you would.   Rape at any age is RAPE.

I dont  have a problem with a 21 yr old having sex with a 17 yr old. If every single time an 18+ person had sex with a 17 or  younger and was prosecuted 1000 new prisons would have to be  built. Its a tough call to determine what age a  person is able to consent to consensual sex.

BS - just set an AGE and stick with it, forget the consent crap.   Even a 14 year old kid can sound mature, compared to the incredibly poorly educated kids graduating from today's schools.

If the SOB is illegal, deport him.

Consensual sex and RAPE are not the same.  I don't care how old you are.
