Title: Study: One Third Of Millennial are Morons
Post by: Solar on November 03, 2017, 05:36:10 AM
No, it didn't say that, but in fact, moron is a legal description of those below average intelligence.
Yes, our education system run by the Dims has generated an abnormally large group of economically challenged, or rather, purposefully kept them in the dark about how an economy work, so they would see communism in a better light.

Millennials: Communism sounds pretty chill

According to the latest survey from the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, a D.C.-based nonprofit, one in two U.S. millennials say they would rather live in a socialist or communist country than a capitalist democracy.

What's more, 22% of them have a favorable view of Karl Marx and a surprising number see Joseph Stalin and Kim Jong Un as "heroes."

Really, that's what the numbers show.

"Millennials now make up the largest generation in America, and we're seeing some deeply worrisome trends," said Marion Smith, executive director of the organization. "Millennials are increasingly turning away from capitalism and toward socialism and even communism as a viable alternative."

But do they even know what it is?

The survey, which was conducted by research and data firm YouGov, found that millennials are the least knowledgable generation on the subject, with 71% failing to identify the proper definition of communism.

However if one is a millennial and have your head on straight the WORLD is yours for the taking. This is a entitlement generation and working is not a priority. If one has a work ethic and some ambition they will succeed because the generation of millennial most are lazy or have any kind of work ethic. They will eventually come around in their 40's or 50's but by then the ship has left the dock a long ago. Great time to be a millennial with ambitions  and work ethic because one has very little competition in that generation .

Color me surprised on this one as I really thought that the figure was closer to 3/4!

That's kind of how I see it too. With one-third of your generation refusing to "Work For The Man", leaves many untapped areas of business, though, if we don't do something about the leftists flooding the nation with hungry, eager to work illegals, it will probably be a wash.

Yeah, I thought it closer to half, so, in truth, it's a bit encouraging, if there's any to be found, that is.
Our generation understood the evils of big brother govt, but generations coming up today, didn't have the Freedoms and Liberties ours experienced, so they have nothing to gauge against.

Agree but most millennials are educated and if they wake up ( doubt it) they will still have a chance. Most illegal aliens to date are not all that well educated but they (Mexicans) are not lazy, smart and ambitious and will eventually overcome the education barrier. The MUSLIMS will blow themselves up first before and are some of the dumbest people in the World. Exception to that is there Management, they never blow themselves up for the VIRGINS or CAUSE. They get someone else to do it. :tounge:

I've never found where a lack of education to be a barrier in a capitalist society, in fact, most entrepreneurs are usually uneducated, meaning little to no college, because the moment they step into school, they quickly realize it's designed for the idiot in mind, the person that knows absolutely nothing about the subject they're interested in.
While the entrepreneur either wings it and gives it his best shot, or seeks an apprenticeship with a master in the field.

You either have it naturally, or you don't, and college is for those that don't. This does not include the hard sciences, which was the initial idea behind higher learning.

Anyway, that's my story and nearly all those I've done business, a kind of private club of hard knocks.
Though I do have one business friend that went the way of higher education, received a masters in business, only to discover she never needed it after starting her business, said 95% of what she learned could never be applied, and the 5 she did glean, fell to commonsense.

As the old saying goes, "Those that can, do, and those that can't, teach.

IMO: Our wealth has resulted in complacency and entitlement in many Millennials. Some don't feel poverty lurking if they don't work. Or they even convince themselves that they can be content living in poverty.

This complacency is our nations Achilles heal. Those that care to capture a noble vision that builds our nation can't get too far without highly educated people who work hard to translate vision into reality. Those hard subjects that required severe discipline (sciences) are avoided by most US Millennials because they "miss their passion" - translated: it doesn't come easy. Meanwhile, we export our hard knowledge to nations who know they have to "fight for milk". Hence, many of our educated Millennials are mis-educated; coddled to to follow their passion by universities trying to hit their short-term bottom lines. There is little US impetus to balance the passion with training in talents that people are willing to pay them for.

There is a romantic attraction to separating from the culture. Scraping enough together to live minimalist. But it's very hard work to live minimalist. The romanticism wears off and all your left with is the 1000 foot stare that is hard to get past unless you've got deep roots. That's not most Millennials. They will get tired of the difficulties associated with living hand-to-mouth and want out if that's an option. But it's too late if you've squandered the season of your life when education was available. It's so much harder to re-train, re-educate later in life ... more so with a Millennials lack of work ethic. So we have a large sector of the population that are unknowingly choosing poverty now and headed toward welfare as they age.

They will hate the 1% but not realize they self-selected out while the 1% were being diligent. They will feel they are being treated unfairly. They're sitting ducks for the Marxists.

My advice to any Millennial that hasn't yet squandered their chance at a useful education. Educate to a skill that has strong pull in the market. Then gain experience in an area where you can learn to like in that market - where companies are willing to pay you a reasonable salary without being subsidized. Then continue to prepare for the market to shift as you work. For companies do not operate on emotion; they must make enough income to pay the bills and salaries. If the market shifts then you may end up on the street - so you have to keep abreast of changes and be ready to shift in front of it. That means you'll be seasoning with education your whole working career.

Sadly, this is the goal of the left/Dim party, keep them dumb and dependent upon the govt, as we're seeing in this one-third of a single generation.
Thank God the next-gen sees it quite the opposite.

That's the thing about technology, it changes faster than the seasons, and like business, you better be just ahead of the curve or the competition is going to eat you alive.
The idea of securing a Union job for life is gone, just look at the Carpenters Union, all those apprentices of the 70s are now facing a flood of illegals willing to do the work for a fourth of the price.

Agree degrees are not needed for most entrepreneurs in the business world and that depends on the business. A stockbroker is likely to have some college degree in finance or MBA. Same with a Investment Banker who starts their own firm. I don't want a surgeon who does not have a college degree doing surgery or a Lawyer that did not graduate LAW School representing me. A great profession for the entrepreneur is the trades and owning the company. Many do go into their own business but fail because lack of business skills. Basic accounting, marketing, management are all associated with a college degree in Business. Does one have to have them and a degree, NO but it sure helps if you do and know where to look up the process of implementing them. Illegal Aliens  (Mexicans)will go the education route because it is the quicker way to success and entrepreneurship and education present more opportunities for minorities currently in this country. Nope, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, John Gokongwei, Elon Musk, just to name a few, all dropped out of college and those so-called Stock Brokers?
Most are thieves/lawyers or anyone with a connection because the game is rigged and has zero to do with actual economics.

But I covered hard sciences, the rest is up to the intuitive entrepreneur. And your claim that many fail in business because of a lack of business skills is pretty much bogus.
I know, I've been in business all my life, and no amount of college can prepare you for what the world is about to throw at you.
The only impediment to opening a business is govt, Period!
Red tape, taxes, permits, etc, none of which existed 100 years ago, Hell, just 50 years back you didn't need much of anything but drive and a tiny bit of capital.
I started on nine bucks, retired in my mid 40s.

I think you failed to grasp my point, that education for many is a barrier because while their peers are wasting time in college, they are already on the road to success.
There is no better teacher than hands-on experience, (internships, apprenticeships) something their peers will still have to learn, no matter how many years they waste in college.

I heard about this survey on Rush's show today. He pointed out that a large percentage of those surveyed couldn't even define communism or socialism.

That was my very first thought when I saw this thing. How many millennials can even define communism or socialism or capitalism? These are not educated people; they are indoctrinated people. Seriously, how many of them even knew who Lenin was? How many of them knew that Stalin presided over the greatest collective mass murder in human history? Mao was right behind him. Hitler was a piker, a cheapskate, by comparison.

The only silver lining I see is Reagan's top ranking. But still, how many of these people remember him, or even know what he did and what he stood for?

That sums it up in a nutshell. All these morons know about history can be found at a state fair where Che t-shirts and mirrors are up for sale.
They saw it, thought it looked cool, so they bought it, never having a clue as to what these people stood for, so when they see his name in a survey, they say: "Yeah, that's my guy."
Same went for Mao clothing which I saw a lot of in the Bay area in the 60s and 70s.

Much has changed since I was in college '61-'65. I did not feel there was a lot of the indoctrination we see on campuses today. Of course, I came from a home and high school that EXPECTED good behavior personal responsibility. I think the majority of kids entering college today do not have the core values and principles we had 55 years ago. Consequently they are more susceptible to indoctrination.

Very true, and this generation was sold on the lie, that if you didn't go to college, you'll always be a burger flipper.
I'd be willing to bet that most who went to college have nothing to show for their efforts in the long run, compared to those that did without. (govt jobs excluded, since they are a net drain on society)
Now there's a study I'd like to see.

Sadly, they do not know what socialism is, or capitalism, or any of the other forms. Most could not tell you who their congressman is, or their mayor. It does make me wonder what the ell is going on in schools.

Now there's a study I'd like to see.

I've never seen a study yet that showed no net difference between incomes of college grads and non-college grads. But..... One must consider who's doing the studies.

That said, the education industry in the US is now almost completely a state-run business. The money -- by illegal executive fiat of Barack Obama -- is now completely controlled by the national government. Only a handful of colleges -- such as Hillsdale, which I mentioned before -- can claim any independence from the deep state straitjacket.

These days, colleges nurture and manufacture automatons, weird, fragile robots devoted to the perpetuation of the cocoons from which they emerged.

Exactly! The only studies you would find would be slanted hard left in colleges favor, simply because private entities have no reason to do such a study, there's just no profit in it or reason to do one.

I didn't read the article or every post so I may be stating something already observed or explained in the article but.....

I am pleasantly shocked Obama isn't on the list......whats up with that?
I'm guessing he polled among the bottom ones and was left off the list because of that. Kinda like his college grades.  birth certificate. accomplishments. papers written when younger. any original thoughts....

Yeah, that is kinda interesting, but a little digging tells the story. The actual study itself is not easy to find, and isn't linked to in the article quoted in the OP. (It's here (http://victimsofcommunism.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/YouGov-VOC-2017-for-Media-Release-November-2-2017-final.pdf).)

If you look carefully, you'll find what appears to be the actual question wording for each part of the survey. In the case of the graphic shown in the OP, the question was, " How would you describe each of the following?" In other words, Obama (along with a great many other historical figures) was probably not an option. But the published study question doesn't say how the word "hero" enters into the picture.

You are dead on the mark!
Those who do, are climbing the ladder of employment, innovation, leadership & wealth faster than any other generation before them.

Talking with a 40-something guy, married with 2 kids, wife works.  Combined income is decent, but his or her's alone, they'd starve.  Neither one went past High School, Trade School - and now they complain they "can't go back to school and learn how to do something else".  Night school - out of the question... I guess that's TV time.

This is what awaits everyone who sits on their ass waiting to be entertained, instead of applying themselves.   Sadly, they're more likely to become dependent, enslaved, morons - voting Democrat.

Is it only the millennials? Consider a moment.
For the vast majority, the badge of the "educated" is a
credential; (BA / MBA / PhD; and so on); a modern fad.
The Ancients, the Scholastics, those of the Renaissance
and so on, had no such illusions; as they were self-taught.
I suggest our lack of the perspective of history plays
a grave role in our chronic malaise.
We simply do not understand the what and why of that
which is occurring all around us because we have become
to lazy to reflect and learn.

Reminds of a neighbor I had in MS in the early 70's. He struggled to get through Auburn and his wife was a straight A student at Alabama. Having some beverages one night he said, "It is not hard to graduate with an A average. It is hard work to graduate with a D+ average." That has stuck with me for all these years.

Very well said. It's okay to learn from others but at some point, if you're going to do much, you have to figure out how to learn without a crutch.

Supe, reflect a moment while considering these:
* Homer, a self-educated blind man detailed the history of Greece and Troy.
* As astonishing as the Sistine Chapel Ceiling is, how did Michelangelo support himself on his
back, more than 80 feet above the floor, for months, in order paint these massive tapestries.
* Mozart composed a full scale opera at 4 years of age.
And none of them had college degrees, the poor things.
And we're the greatest???

We destroyed communism before the Millennials were ever born. All they ever learned about it was a romanticized version from failed Leftards. Even today when they speak of successful European socialism, they ignored the particular conditions that at first allowed it to flourish and the current problems it has. One last thing, is that the US is importing too many immigrants from failed Islamic, Latin American and Socialist states, and not enough immigrants from the former - or even the current - Soviet block.

Couldn't agree more.

Well said. One only has to visit countries from the former Soviet block to understand those folks are well aligned with our desired values as written by our founders.
