Miami-area lawmakers are proposing adding a 51st star to the American flag.

Do these politicians not have a brain? There is no way 2/3 of Congress and the states would approve another lib state.e an election on the horizon.

As in the period prior to the Civil War, the only way you'd get an extra liberal state is if you split a deep blue state like NY or PA.

Good.  Ever been to the Miami area? I was there about five years ago for medical reasons. I decided against treatment and vowed never to go back regardless of what the circumstances were. What a freakin' cess pool.  Let them secede from Florida.

These people are drowning in the KoolAid. Here's a snip from the actual resolution:

QuoteWhereas, climate change is a scientific reality resulting in global warming and rising sea level;
and

Whereas, it is estimated that there will be a 3 to 6 foot sea level rise by the end of this century.
In addition, South Florida has very porous rock and, as the level of the sea rises, the pressure will cause
water to rise up through the ground and flood the inland areas; and

Whereas, South Florida's situation is very precarious and in need of immediate attention. Many
of the issues facing South Florida are not political, but are now significant safety issues;

NOBODY, absolutely nobody, not the most rabidly extreme global warmists, are predicting anything even remotely close to that degree of sea-level rise.

If South Florida becomes the 51st state and the Global Warming fantasy comes true and completely inundates the "state" is it still a state?

Possibly our first "wadeable" state. I can't see a problem with it, because they've already got all the damn airboats.

Not only that, but the Constitution is very specific on who it is that can even apply for statehood.

I doubt, South Miami as a region by itself, even has the populace for such a thing.

But if they do, fine with me.

So long as they go through the legal process of becoming our 51st State.

Whether they are liberal, or conservative is irrelevant to the process.

The Constitution doesn't say that applicant's for statehood must be either liberal, or conservative etc....
