SEOUL, South Korea –  In a historic ruling Friday, South Korea's Constitutional Court formally removed impeached President Park Geun-hye from office over a corruption scandal that has plunged the country into political turmoil, worsened an already-serious national divide and led to calls for sweeping reforms.

It was a stunning fall for Park, the daughter of a dictator who rode a lingering conservative nostalgia for her father to a big win in 2012, only to see her presidency descend into scandal. The unanimous ruling opens her up to possible criminal proceedings, and makes her South Korea's first democratically elected leader to be removed early from office since democracy came in the country in the late 1980s.

South Korea must now hold an election within two months to choose Park's successor. Liberal Moon Jae-in, who lost to Park in the 2012 election, currently enjoys a comfortable lead in opinion surveys. Whoever becomes the next leader will take over a country facing a hostile North Korea, a stagnant economy and deep social and political divides.

I am far from being very knowledgeable about South Korean politics. That being said, I do know what the new government is will be critical to our interest in that part of the world. Any government that leans left in any way would be very troubling. South Korea has been a very stabilizing force with us for the past 60-70 years.

I've followed SK politics since I left in 1973 when it was still under dictatorial rule, then moved to a more open society to the so-called "Democratic" movement, but never flushed out the system.
What best can best be compared to our RINO, she was shown to have ties to the old corrupt guard.
I guess the only thing that will be affected is the deal making, but the underpinnings will remain the same, like US support and infrastructure, ties to Japan, trade. Our relationship shouldn't change in the least, despite the hatred of a brainwashed generation.
Yeah, Millennial are pretty much the same all over the world as they've always been, young an dumb, it's what 20 somethings do.

This is not to say the left is seizing power in SK as in taking over the House, rather a good carpet cleaning of the entry way.
We could only hope it would happen here and we could purge the excrement from the GOP.
That's my best superficial description, but the Impeachment does go much deeper.
